Talk Me Out of a Cirrus

Yeah.. Vegas to Amarillo took 4.20 and burned average of 11.4 gallons at 12k. Also TAS 172-174. Loves LOP for sure! I said probably wouldn’t fit his bill because of his space requirements

Talk Me Out of a Cirrus

Kent, I see you also have an Ovation. Your comments are spot on. In the last 3 weeks I’ve made 2 XC trips from Vegas to Amarillo and back and then Vegas to Houston and back. Amarillo was a 4.2 hour leg and Houston was 2x3 hour legs (stop at Roswell). I fly these 12-16k. O2 sucks but my ox...

Talk Me Out of a Cirrus

Good advice. I have an Ovation3 with no factory O2. I often fly 13-18k and have a very useful portable Aerox M bottle. When I don't need it, I can save the weight of the factory O2. I live in Vegas and fly X-C alot. I haven't yet said "I wish I had a turbo". The O3 does great hot and high for TO...

Toga useful load will be an issue. have to look for a first gen Turbo Toga. I don't believe that FIKI is an option, but TKS inadvertent is. Expensive though if not already installed .

Yes, I saw KDNA but the runway is closed through October. How about Las Cruces (KLRU)?

Any PIREPS for El Paso? Thinking about flying back to Vegas from Conroe with a stop in El Paso as opposed to Roswell. Any thoughts?

Talk Me Out of a Cirrus

Cirrus are great planes. Personally, I can’t deal with the side stick. You’ll be dealing with UL limitations like most high performance birds. Have you looked at the DA50RG? It’s pricey, has performance that is just OK (20k ceiling, 180KTAS cruise or thereabouts). It’s a FADEC turbo continental...

    Flying KCXO to KHND

I’m flying home on Wednesday from a trip to visit family in Conroe (KCXO). I flew here with a bathroom stop in Roswell. I’m thinking about stopping in El Paso on the way back as opposed to Roswell. Stay a little further south of the ABQ-FLG line which always seems to welcome me with loads of pop...

    Cherokee 6 vs Saratoga SP

Lances are great but 1st gen Saratoga’s are similar in UL. Either one!

    Bose A20 vs Zulu 3

I have A30 and Zulu 3. both are great. Personally, I find the A30’s a bit more comfortable. But honestly, it 100% personal preference. You really couldn’t go wrong with either one. Zulu’s probably better value for $ as they are slightly cheaper.

    Cherokee 6 vs Saratoga SP

That's actually not correct. The mid bodies and long bodies have the same back seat space. The myth that Mooneys have no back seat leg room is because the front seats are designed to slide all the way to the back of the rail beyond the last stop position to aid in ingress/egress of the front two...

Am I crazy for considering a V-Tail Bo?

I agree with all the posts adivising the Instrument Rating first. V Tailed Bo, Mooney K (I have a Standing O), Debonair etc all great planes.

Here's a copy of a thread on cabin width from another group - hope this helps: The range of cabin sizes in the SE piston market is between 38 and 50 inches. That is a full 12 inches / 30 cm difference between the smallest and the widest cabin. What I found very interesting is that some cabins...
