    IF domestic travel is restricted...

Suspect you are correct. This will be unpleasant for a few months, but hardly a catastrophe.

    Mom’s In the hospital

Very sorry to hear about your Mom. Parental care is tough, and even tougher when you are 1000+ miles away. I think your idea of doing everything possible to keep her in her apartment is a good idea.. so long as she is reasonably capable to taking care of herself. It is a familiar setting...

    1969 Piper Cherokee stabilator movement

True (perhaps) unless this is just the beginning of a problem and it starts binding at a wider range of movement.

    1969 Piper Cherokee stabilator movement

Hmmm... when standing outside the plane and manually moving the stabilator, I do not believe there should be any "hitch" in the movement. mine runs smoothly up and down, no stick. Perhaps something is binding and you only feel it when moving the stabilator. It's a matter of geometry...

    ADSB install in Pennsylvania

FWIW - I have used SkyManor Air Repair (Eric Lacko) for a lot of my avionics work, he is listed as a qualified installer on the uAvionics website. Good guy, does great work. Do know he is booked pretty heavily at the moment, so not sure about his schedule. Do you have the original Piper...

    POA Movie thread

1917 Decent, not great. Seems the critics liked it a lot better than me. Liked "They Shall Not Grow Old" much more.

    Christmas on the Big Island

This is a pretty well traveled group, so thought I'd query the populace for some advice. Planning a trip to the Big Island of Hawaii, maybe mid-December or January (flexible on timing). Did visit a while back in Hilo, loved the area but this time shooting for the Kona Coast as we've not been...

Good to know. Always looking for a new place. Haven't been to 4N1 in years, do remember the Constellation there.

    POA Movie thread

Knives Out is fun. No moral significance or message to convey, just pure entertainment. If you like who-done-its, worth the time. Well acted and it seems as though the actors are enjoying themselves. Seeing James Bond with a southern draw and Captain America as a less than virtuous character...

    Life-Changing Bands (or Songs)

Hmmm... tough one as there are so many artists/songs. But as "transformational", guess I'd have to go with: Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon Fleetwood Mac - Mystery to Me Supertramp - Crime of the Century Each of those caused me to go WOW!! Still have the vinyl for those. The sound off...

    [NA] No more 11foot8[NA]

Now that’s a coincidence! Was standing on that very corner yesterday afternoon wondering the same thing! From my completely untrained eye, it would appear that lowering the road would cause some serious drainage issues. It’s already a low area and would likely turn into a pond without...

"Don't tell my wife" -- Piper aircraft promotional film

Cool! Thanks for finding and posting. Got involved in flying at the tail end of that era (1973). Similar experience, was something different than today, much more activity and a more "relaxed" feeling to it all. Just for grins, looked up the PA28140 I took my private in and it's still flying...

Best way to buy a car these days?

Interesting discussion with the local Chevy dealer. He was a good person to deal with (although I didn't buy there), pretty open, knew his product better than anybody else and did really try to learn about the customer. He's been selling cars for 40 years. In his opinion, better than half the...

Tesla Model 3 - Now I get the hype.

OR - Hertz/National/Avis will just send the car to whatever airport you land at and have it automatically return when you are done!

Best way to buy a car these days?

This! Competition and the internet are your friend. Going through this right now, have it narrowed down to a Honda Ridgeline or the Chevy Colorado/Canyon. Certainly the dealers have a game they want you to play, but it isn't necessary to play that game. Agree with Flyingcheesehead, know what...

When you are ready for another car poll.

Out shopping for a pick-um-up truck (my retirement gift to myself). 99.99% sure I'll just pay for it. Possibility does exist to save few $ if I take advantage of a 0% financing, but, seems to me, when car shopping "cash is king". Much easier to just say cash, no trade, no financing - just...

How involved in flying is your spouse / Significant other?

Very supportive, never a comment on the bills.... Likes flying, so long as we are going somewhere, not much for just tooling around or going to fly-ins. Never shown any interest in getting her license or getting involved in the mechanics. She's pretty good at traffic spotting, remembering...

Eagles Mere PA (Merritt Field - 4PN7)

What a wonderful small town, airport and car/aviation museum! Was supposed to have been a flying trip, but the weather was very uncooperative, so it was a drive-to. The town of Eagles Mere started out as a retreat for the 1%-ers as is evident from the size and quality of the homes surrounding...
