Can I get some input on a Cherokee 140/160?

I would consider a Cherokee 140 the ideal aircraft for anyone in the 2-seater market. Top the tanks with 2 adults and some luggage, and weight shouldn’t be an issue, even during summertime. Try that in a C150 or Tomahawk, won’t work out so well. Most 140’s seem to be priced for not much more...

    Cherokee 180 with c/s prop

True. But parts are typically easier to get for Piper than Grumman (a discussion for a different thread). And I never said I wanted one with c/s prop, I just figured I’d ask, as I didn’t know they existed (it’s basically a fixed-gear Arrow).

    Cherokee 180 with c/s prop

https://www.controller.com/listing/for-sale/219245575/1966-piper-cherokee-180-piston-single-aircraft Just happened to come across this on controller. It’s priced cheap due to the engine being past TBO time (2,100 hrs & change), but claims it trues out at 130 kts. I’m not currently in the...

    Airline Autonomous flight technology

I for one would NEVER fly as a passenger on an unmanned aircraft, be it automated or controlled from the ground. I’m also not a big fan of airline pilots not having the option to be able to manually fly the aircraft during climb out and approach; it’s basically a requirement to let the...

    Longest Flight Record Still Holds

As someone already posted, it doesn’t count if it’s unmanned. Otherwise, a satellite dish holds the record after being in orbit. It’s my understanding that the flight may have gone on longer, but they were forced to finally land due to not being able to maintain altitude (engine reached TBO...

Should I not own if I can’t find hangar space?

Thanks. The dream of ownership is still a few years away, but I’m working to make it happen.

Should I not own if I can’t find hangar space?

If I could afford a new one, I could likely afford to have build a hangar, let alone afford renting an existing one.

How long will the 747 fly?

Not to mention FAR more expensive.

Should I not own if I can’t find hangar space?

Currently residing in south GA, maybe move to AL someday (low cost of living). AL is in tornado alley, but a hangar won’t make one iota of difference if one of those come through (Eufaula’s. FBO was wiped out a couple of years ago).

Should I not own if I can’t find hangar space?

A coupl’a hundid, no. Seven to ate hundid, very much so (my rent’s not even that much).

Should I not own if I can’t find hangar space?

I would hope to have an already-built Vans RV, or perhaps a Skyhawk or Cherokee. I’m not instrument rated, and have no intention of ever getting IFR rated, so I don’t need a super-expensive instrument panel (no glass, autopilot, etc), although I would want radios (I DO like night flying), and...

Should I not own if I can’t find hangar space?

If I were in the market to own an aircraft, but either couldn’t find or afford hangaring (usually both these problems exist), should I not even consider aircraft ownership? I’m well aware of exposure to the elements such as sunlight, heat, moisture, bad (potentially damaging) weather, and...

Visiting EAA Airventure via the airlines?

Oh yes, I’ve driven several times, just never traveled on the airlines before (or at all for that matter). I just booked me a stay at Extended Stay Airport in Green Bay, for $577 for 5 nights. Not too bad for today’s prices. Still haven’t decided if I’m going to drive again or fly the airlines.

Visiting EAA Airventure via the airlines?

When I would drive, I typically stay in Green Bay (as I said, they jack up the hotel prices the closer you are to OSH). Last year I actually stayed in Marinette, which is on I-41 at the Michigan border. It’s a bit of a drive from there to the airshow, but after the 20 hr one-way drive from...

My name came up on the T-Hangar list!

Did you find another hangar in that time, or did you have to keep out on the ramp?

Visiting EAA Airventure via the airlines?

Cool. The plan would be to rent a car and stay at a motel for a few days. Didn’t know Appleton had an airline terminal. I usually stay in GRB when I drive, as they Jack up the hotel prices the closer you get to KOSH.

Visiting EAA Airventure via the airlines?

Has anyone ever traveled to KOSH by flying the airlines? Just brainstorming, but I’m considering flying in instead of driving from south GA this year. The plan would be to fly into Green Bay or perhaps Madison (assuming that airport has an airline terminal), and just renting a car. I’ve...

    Adjustable-pitch vs. constant speed prop

Apparently they exist, but are fairly uncommon. Someone else has asked this question in the past: https://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/61718/difference-between-constant-speed-and-variable-pitch-propellers

    Adjustable-pitch vs. constant speed prop

I’ve heard that some experimental aircraft have in-flight adjustable props, yet they are not constant-speeds. Like a c/s, the blade angle is adjusted to give better takeoff & climb performance and then adjusted for cruise. But yet like a fixed-pitch, the rpms will increase during a dive or as...

Six Seats, Two Engines, Under 20 GPH

While I’m no expert on this, I do know that when I don’t know what your budget is, and I’m not sure how much experience you have in aviation, but I’ll point out that having to maintain two engines can be VERY expensive in comparison to a single-engine. Especially when having to do overhauls...
