Add to this story There I was at 13,000' - one engine feathered . . .

Then I made a slight turn and lined up on the north-south runway at Swinoujscie, Poland. I had been there years earlier during a joint military exercise. The airport is called Solidarity and that's what I want to be with the ground right now.

Is it even possible to have air this bad?

I'm just a retired guy, no longer a scientist. I have a degree or two or three, in Aerospace engineering, and Physics and Systems Analysis. I designed and built Space shuttle micro-gravity experiments, as a rocket scientist, I designed ballistic missile targets and was chief engineer for top...

    The guillotine

At Vandenburg AFB, the indoctrination brief says "Hit the deer." The alternative is to drive off the side of a cliff.

Is it even possible to have air this bad?

The State says you can't be inside because of COVID and the fires make outside unbearable so the only two places that are unsafe in California are inside and outside.

    Learning to Weld

I learned at community college. It is very much like flying in that you don't get better unless you practice.

Why do we still have time zones?

Yes, this place just isn't redneck enough for me.

Why do we still have time zones?

While on active duty, I always wore two watches. I later got a two time zone watch and later I worked in England. I thought I was done with all that until they went to daylight savings time as well. We are moving from AL to WV next month and our biggest problem is going to be the time change.

    Windy.com as a route planner

I've been using it a lot. On the right side you can call up cloud bases. Very helpful for planning but like it has been said, don't use it for more than a day or two out.

    Hangar advice

I think you are trying to do business with your hangar. With that in mind, do not do business with friends, it may affect your friendship unless everyone knows the rules and follows them.

    Found a buyer now what

We're moving to be near the grand children. The new house is about an hour from the nearest airport and they don't have hangar space. I figure less flying and being outside was airplane abuse so I sold it. One of the reasons I bought was the difficulty in renting while I was working. I could...

Help me understand the costs of updating a panel

I had an Apollo GPS in my plane before the panel upgrade. It is still there. I replaced the KX170/MX170's with a KX155 W/GS and an ICOM 220. I replaced the audio panel with a PMA6000 and moved the Mode C xpndr up in the stack. That left room for a tablet to mount to the panel and for 2 USB...

    Found a buyer now what

Called my insurer and they said they would not cancel my policy until Thursday. They said I would be covered for my delivery flight tomorrow. I made it clear the plane was sold and I would be flying someone else's plane and they were OK with that. Today the new owner picked up all the GSE for...

    Found a buyer now what

Got the 337 and faxed it to the prebuy mech and I got the check. The buyer is coming by tomorrow to pick up all the GSE- ladders, footlocker full of documents, and tools- and I'll fly it to it's new home when the weather clears. I still have insurance on it until mid-October.
