Audio panel troubleshooting - feedback squeal

It appears you are just overloading the amplifier. Another headset may increase the impedance and reduce feedback. Plug in a headset for the other seat and set the volume to audible levels and then see if you get feedback.

    Entering the pattern towered airport

Old flying adage...in the interaction between a pilot and controller if the pilot makes a mistake, the pilot dies...if the controller makes a mistake, the pilot dies.

    Declared First Emergency

Welcome to the club. After my emergency, a fellow pilot asked if I had trained for an engine out emergency landing and I told him I had. He then asked why I declared an emergency if it was something I had trained for. I don't ask him for flying advise anymore.

Where/how do you store your aircraft logbooks?

Before I sold my plane the logbooks were in one of those security pouches we used to transport documents at work and that was in the safe at home. All entries were done via sticker so no need to take them out until I handed them to the guy doing the prebuy.

Civilian aircraft, landing at military fields....permission

BTDT, it is a nightmare some places and a formality for others. Call base ops, be very kind and tell them why you need to be there. Most say it has to be something official. I tell them I am meeting with a service member living on the base. Which I usually am.

The continued dumbing down in print media

I had to take English twice to graduate from college. I never realized how important it would be to a rocket scientist. If you can't explain it, it didn't happen.

    Thoughts on maintaining two abodes

As to the states counting days...most states tax pro ball players for the income they made while playing a game in their city. I remember an interview with a Marlins player who said something like 'it's harder to play in NY and we get less pay for doing it.'

    Thoughts on maintaining two abodes

We considered two homes because we lived in AL and the kids are in MD. We wanted to avoid the 13 hour drive to visit on holidays for just a week. The tax system in AL was generous to our situation. We realized that even with a second home we would still have to make the drive but just be able...

Post Office slow down is real

I have never been in a hurry to get my mail. We moved into a neighborhood that has central mailboxes. I go about every third day to pick up.

    Air-to-Air Cessna Cardinal

I sold my Cardinal last month when we moved. I miss it. Cardinal flyers has a good explanation of why the plan to replace the 172 with the 177 was abandoned. It all started when pilots thought they were smarter than the designers...you can't fly an stabilator equipped plane like an elevator...

Will someone PLEASE start an aviation-topic only board!

New personal best of 10 likes. Clearly this is aviation related, as all a pilot really wants is his ego stroked.

    Pick my plane

Get a surplus C-27. There were operational aircraft for sale by the pound in Af-stan after the AF said they didn't want to pursue them. The C-27 is a two engine C-130 (using the same engines) with a ramp and rollers.

    Streaming TV Devices

We are moving to Ranson WV next week from northern AL. We are not taking our TV's and will be buying new when we get there. We had Direct TV and Comcast will provide our cable when we get there. My wife says we are getting there TV package for one year. After that, she MAY let us cut the TV...
