    Presidential transportation (no politics!)

The presidential limo is called the Beast. I was stationed at HMX-1 back when Marine One was a VH-3. now they use VH-60's until the VH-92 comes out, I think this year.

    ITEC Maverick

ITEC stopped building the Maverick due to discovery that the parachute design is wrong for the vehicle. Has anybody heard of a buyer for the design or if there are any of the current vehicles available?

    Sailboats

I sailed for a small school in Annapolis before joining the Marines. I owned a couple of sailboats since then but had to move too many times to keep them. I would recommend you look into a Macgregor. https://macgregorsailors.com/ They are not ocean sailboats but there are good for slow...

    "old" oil question ?

The oil may be 15 years old but the engine is probably 30 years old that it's going in. Use the oil, add Camguard as has been said.

Building Runway predicament - dogleg or steep slope

If you can land on one of the legs, then go with the dogleg. One can accelerate through the dogleg on takeoff but it would be best to land on a straight.

    Anybody reload/handload?

Law of unintended consequences...shortage of ammo makes shooters take better aim resulting in less need for ammo.

    New Decade????

I remember back as the year 2000 was approaching there was a big argument about when the new decade started. Some said a decade goes from 1 to 10 and others said from 0-9. I think the 0-9 crowd won out that time but now it seems there is a push to call 2021 the start of a new decade. This...

    Anybody reload/handload?

I've been reloading my 9mm since I got the pistol in 1975 using a Lee hand loader. I got a press when I got my 10mm pistol. I was going to get dies for my 30-30 but then I got a 10mm rifle and now the 30-30 is in the back of the safe. The 10mm works great on hogs. My bench is set up for 9mm...

    Aviation Goals for 2021

I sold my plane in 2020 and moved north to a place where I knew it couldn't be hangared. We had 8 inches of snow last week so I'm good. That said, I've talked to the kind of near flight school and will get my flight review (elapsed in Nov) and start renting in the Spring. I've been flight...

Why are airplane engine TBO hours so low?

It's a probability thing...the 40,000 mile warranty on your tires is determined by when the failure curve starts going up not on when it hits the top. The TBO is the same thing, the manufacturer/FAA started seeing problems at that time. It doesn't mean there will be a problem.

    Anyone buy a new plane?

I bought a 40 year old plane but when I did it was after much study and looking at several specimens and talking to the owners and joining the type club. I did my own pre-buy and found a mechanic that would show me, watch me, come back and check my work. We did annuals together and upgraded as...

    [na][nr][ncs]Prime rib revisited

My mom's assisted living place has turkey which she doesn't like for tomorrow. She said she would have a sandwich. Fortunately I was able to send her some Ruth's Chris for dinner tomorrow. I'm sure they know how to cook a steak.

    [NA]House repairs; interior wood coatings[NA]

Are you sure it was a "clear coat" and not a stain. When we first bought our log home it was black on the front from the nearby traffic. I planted trees in the front and then bought acid from the local pool store and washed it and then re-stained it. No coating, and it still looks great 20...
