    C152, 106*, 4600’, 2 occupants, gusty conditions

Sure, or I can just hold shift-8. That's two actions. As opposed to five (which I was not aware of anyways and won't bother to write down). I'll still use * .... deal with it. :p

Degrees. I thought everyone used that notation instead of writing it out?

They are lucky they walked away. https://www.ksl.com/article/50471826/wind-gust-forces-small-plane-down-in-west-jordan-soccer-field

    Seems like a good plan?

Any plan might be a good plan if you are brave/stupid enough.

    Orlando DA-42 taxi fatality

You aren’t wrong. Of our club aircraft the Tiger is my favorite. But I’ve always thought that in the event of a forced landing I would want to have the canopy opened and something wedged in there to prevent a situation where it wouldn’t be locked shut. Then I remember pilots forget to bring in...

KWVI Watsonville MId Air, Multiple Fatalities

I fly out of U42 also. I only fly straight in from the south if the pattern is empty, or maybe one other plane that won’t be an issue. Normally I’ll pull to the west and sequence in on the 45 to rw 34. I also know pilots who on approach from the east side overfly midfield and enter downwind 16...

    Centennial - 182 Fatal

Possible wind shear or wake turbulence as other possibilities?

    Humble Pie

All my landings are butter. Can’t even tell when the wheels touch. Hahahaha. Yeah. Maybe two out of the last fifteen. Bounces happen. The important thing is what do you do about it? Can you add some power and salvage them? Or add full power and try next time? Was in a 182 with my wife last...

    Flight training time frame

I also would be interested in that data point. Some students take longer to grasp the concepts and there is nothing wrong with that.

Renter's insurance after incident as student

Besides the main point, you are “in flight” after you have removed the chocks and tie downs. You are PIC in towing and taxiing. The fact that you brushed off taxiing as not being “in flight” is a statement by itself. After all this is settled I hope you re-evaluate what your duties as pic...

    Lost Motivation and Interest

Lost interest in what exactly? You fly with the widgets that you think are necessary for you. After that you just fly. Whatever missions are interesting to you. For me, I’m working on my IR so 95% of the time I’m with my II. Otherwise my wife. Hardly ever on my own. Joined CAP for additional...

    Choosing a flight school

You want an instructor that you are comfortable with imo. Controlled airport or not (good instructors will give you the flying experience either way). I was in my mid-40s when I got my ticket. My flight instructor was a young guy headed to the airlines. He was super supportive and understanding...

Getting home from Oshkosh - the long way round

I’m way out west so of no help but this is like a PnP mission thread. Except PnS? You all are awesome.

This is why I like doing young eagles flights

Fly what you like and only bring as many extra headsets as you wish to fly with you. Personally, and I don’t know why this is, I prefer a max of two.

    N. Las Vegas Mid-air

Right. But the PIC failed here, and the nearly identical near disaster in Colorado. Trying to protect pilots from pilots. So crying PIC is nice, but not effective. So the question for the community then is there a better way to manage parallel runway operations other than saying that the...

    X-C Plane Selection Advice

Our club Tiger doesn’t spend anywhere close to 10 gph. Closer to 9 max but I’m flying at 10-ish in altitude and not shooting for max IAS. Tigers are sweet GA aircraft. Aerodynamic (not covered in rivets and streamlined in other ways). And you can open the canopy for additional cooling as you wish.

This is why I like doing young eagles flights

I don’t think so. You need to be an EAA member, get background checked and take a short training regarding child protection, and I think have insurance to a certain amount. I also fly YEs … it’s a wonderful experience hearing the ooohs and ahhhhs. I’ll have to take an in-flight picture one of...

Talk me out of a Cherokee 160

Regarding the Tiger criticism. I’m in a club with five aircraft. Of the five the Tiger is my preferred travel plane. Better speed less fuel. Or to compromise you can crack the canopy for more cooling. It doesn’t need an abnormal amount of runway as you claim. I flew today with my CFII in the...

Pilot Arrested after Highway Landing 7/15

Meh. I was a student pilot for about that long. Not everyone can afford to blast through in 6 months.
