True. FWIW Sensenich's 'Wooden Propeller Application Guide' lists the same x42 (std) and x44 (cruise) pitch for the A-65 (72" dia) and A-75 (70" dia).

    Redefining ugly

Liquids are heavy. An Air Tractor 800 has 890 gallons of tankage, not including fuel. Filled with water which is 8 pounds per gallon, that's 7120 pounds. Equivalent to more than 41 "standard" 170 pound people. It has a waiver to operate at over 12,500 pounds gross with a single pilot.

Re: the Airtruck. Some neat engineering, obviously built as an Ag plane, it is constructed around a stainless steel hopper that is part of the structure and sits on the C.G. behind the pilot. The pilot sits atop the engine giving him good visibility and some degree of protection since Ag planes...

You are correct, the venturi is removable... Which gets us here... The A-65 was made until 1966... But in 1941 when it was standardized as the Army's O-170-3 a number of improvements to the internals were made. More drillings for oil passage, a different piston ring arrangement, different...

LOL, thanks for the photos. Other than the "smiley face" and tablet holder, it's exactly the same interior. The exterior is red and white but in exactly the same scheme down to the accents on the wheel fairings. In 2022, the difference between an A-65 and an A-75 is minimal. Maybe nothing more...

Any 11AC owners out there? “You are what your record says you are.” –Bill Parcells If true, I suppose a corollary is that if you have Poly Fiber covered wings, you are what your “CAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual” says you are. Once you have everything tuned up and rigged correctly there...

Taking my daughter flying for the first time this weekend

People who research these things say we form our first permanent memories about age three. This is of course a ball park quess-ti-esti-mation (just like the Federal Reserve and Meteorologists use). Our children were doomed, both mom and dad were licensed, they slept through their first rides in...

    My 2021 Flying Map

Did the map, but I can't post a link yet. :( According to the data, cross-country flights in 2021 entailed 312 hours, 30,264 statute miles. 240 "legs" averaging 1+18, 127 statute miles, 97 mph. Excluding my origin airport, I landed at-- and subsequently took off from-- 77 discrete airports or...
