Static Display “do not touch” sign ideas

I remember years ago (our son is now in his mid-40s and he was young when this happened. He came into my aunt's house with eyes as big as saucers. "The fence shook me!" Once we figured out what had happened he was treated to every adult in the room laughing. He had grabbed an electric fence...

    Tesla Model 3 - Finally.

Good to hear that. We bought a new 2021 Ford Escape Hybrid the end of October of last year. Just over 4000 miles on it now. Sounds like battery life should be a non-issue of us.

Need help for an old dog who pees in the house when he gets upset

No intent thought. I was simply making an observation.

Need help for an old dog who pees in the house when he gets upset

My dad was a veterinarian. Taught small animal surgery at WSU for 30 years. He absolutely hated putting one of our pets down. Way too emotional an event. Trust me, vets are human, too.

"...pilot pressed a button 'no qualified pilot would' "

Do British jets have Lucas as their supplier of electric power? If so, remind me to never ride one.

[Na]Who is traveling internationally these days?

No kidding on customs and immigration. And the timeshare hustlers are the worst.

    Wristwatches

You needed a place like this leaving Ephesus back in 2009 for your fake watches. :-)

[Na]Who is traveling internationally these days?

We leave for Puerto Vallarta in the morning. Looks like getting there is a big "whoop". Coming back in a couple weeks we'll need the CDC approved test. Mexico isn't a big deal at this time.

Mass Termination of DPEs - Portland, ME FSDO

The DPE who did my IFR rides back in 2011 failed me on the first try fair and square. I got too low on a non-precision approach. Passed me on the second try. He is no longer a DPE (at the pleasure of the local FSDO), but I don't recall why. It wasn't anything I experienced, but IIRC it was...

    High performance endorsement

Quite a few exceptions mean that it is NOT a rule. You are correct, read the POH.

    Tail number placard on console

I don't recall this, but I've only been licensed since November 1988. Oh well, I have a copy of my license in my wallet. As far as placards on instrument panels of aircraft go, I don' t recall the regulation (assuming there is one), but I am certainly glad the club has them on our planes...

Fuel at $10, how much will you fly?

No impact on my flying. Too little of that to care.

Aviation and the oil crisis in '73

Long before I learned to fly, so I can't say what the impact was or wasn't with respect to flying. However, I was in college in 1973 (got married that summer), and it was a problem for cars.

Inverters--Pure Sine vs. Modified Sine Wave

As an EMC engineer of long standing, I would suggest that you go with a "real" sine wave, rather than a modified sine wave. There would be far less RF noise that would interfere with AM reception by the scanner. FM probably wouldn't care, but AM would.

    Dumb war question

The Brits use the same convention when referring to highways. They probably have been doing it longer than the residents of southern California. And I'm right. ;) Go Cougs!!!

    High performance endorsement

Going from a 172 to the 182 it was nothing special. A few extra controls (prop, cowl flaps), but otherwise nothing special. One other thing you will learn when transitioning to a 182 - trim is your friend. A big friend. Otherwise, it was a long time ago... Over square operation only came up...

    Porsche rant

Makes me glad that I replaced the 2013 Ford Escape with a 2021 Ford Escape. The dealer has been fine. No problems with them at all.

How can a pilot "forget" to put down gear in C510?

Those lights may not be visible. In the Arrow that our club had if the switch that controlled the panel light brightness was set wrong the lights were dimmed to the point where you couldn't see them if they were on. One of our CFIs loved to hit that switch when she thought the pilot wasn't...

    Thread about actual beer

No kidding! Now, try a few others that I've had over the years. The Bottle of Britain. Yes, that is "bottle", not "battle". I still have the bottle at home. A friend from the UK gave it to me a number of years ago at a symposium in Bruges, Belgium. Speaking of Belgium... Here's one from...
