    Broken Studs

What did you do in your preflight where you caught this? Was it during run-up?

What does a "normal" market look like?

There you go... adding logic to the discussion. :D I guess maybe that's why VREF might show the lower side (perceived) since those are real sales and likely are ones that weren't on the market but a day at most or maybe were unadvertised purchases. Do you know where they get the data/history...

What does a "normal" market look like?

That's kinda what I thought. Looking at the VREF numbers for that model - they are so far off of what the market seems to be doing. They definitely don't match up to 90% of the planes I'm seeing. I have found one though (not on the market) that seems to VREF out about right... maybe it's a...

What does a "normal" market look like?

I've been running some VREF numbers on some Six's through my AOPA membership. I've seen those historical graphs. Wasn't sure what the Blue line/area meant... is that the average of all singles? Honestly, I wasn't sure how accurate the VREF was in this market. They definitely don't match up...

Where to search, Planes for Sale

I have, and you're correct. There seems to be about a $10k difference in OH between the O and the IO540. That is a consideration in my operating costs for sure... and if I buy a plane with a runout engine.

Where to search, Planes for Sale

Good suggestion and thank you for that. My current thought (if this refurb plane has potential) is I would try and do the avionics right away. I would see how long that might take and if it takes up to a few months or a little more, I would probably be ok with that as I'd still be waiting for...

Where to search, Planes for Sale

I looked him up and his video - very cool and damn that 300 turned out nice! Needless to say, this plane would not be bought at $30k, but still might be worthwhile. I'll have to see what it all looks like once my friend is able to get some pics, do a walk around, etc. and see what the avionics...

Where to search, Planes for Sale

Thanks for all the suggestions from everyone. I've began exploring some of the things mentioned. I've got someone to help me out with the entire process so that's a relief for sure. I did join the PA32 FB group - that has been cool to peruse. Ideally I'd like to find a plane that is setup...

    Fixing a TFR?

I'm learning something new every day here... and I thought busting a TFR simply meant the TFR did something wrong and got caught. I was always curious what the TFR did to get busted.

Where to search, Planes for Sale

Good point Jim, I had not considered that dimension. I will now though and will make sure once one comes available, that dimension is appropriate. Thanks for the heads up! That could be a real headache if I accepted a hangar without a plane in possession and was renting it for a while then...

Where to search, Planes for Sale

Thanks for all the responses. Definitely some helpful tips. We will see where everything goes... who knows, anytime between now and a year or so from now maybe I'll be a plane owner. During this whole process, I keep thinking of the "Chicken or the Egg"... Hangar without an airplane OR...

Where to search, Planes for Sale

I'm beginning to search for my first (and hopefully last) plane (Cherokee Six). I'm continually looking at BarnStormers, Controller, Hangar67, and Trade-a-Plane. Are there any others? Are there some brokers I should check with? Has anyone done the monthly subscription to FindAircraft.com...

Planning for IR in 1-2yrs, suggestions?

Here, where I'm at in Florida if I head North I pick up Orlando Approach for FF. They're 50/50 if they will pick you up. As I go further North, I pick up Daytona Approach. Then Jax... but Jax is often too busy it seems. If I head South, Palm Beach Approach is who I contact and they're pretty...

Planning for IR in 1-2yrs, suggestions?

Thanks for everyone's input so far, much appreciated for sure! Being in Florida, I've definitely experienced VFR challenges with clouds and storms and continually am looking for Plan B's, C's, and even D's both in flight planning and during the flight. I always am trying to get flight...

Planning for IR in 1-2yrs, suggestions?

I completed my PPL in mid-July, have about 160hrs right now and am really enjoying everything. Plenty of our flying will be flying to see our daughters in the SE, seeing places around the SE, and just enjoying ourselves as time moves on. I belong to a flying club and can get my IR through a...

Tracking of flight times - MyFlightBook vs Foreflight logbook

I use FF and you can do exports so using another e-method down the road shouldn't be a problem if desired. There are also "custom fields" for tracking purposes you can add if there's something you'd like to track but can't find where to track it in FF. FF does seem to always keep a little...

What does a "normal" market look like?

I think in a round about way, I'm saying the same thing Ed ("If the time is right for YOU, get a plane"). The time will be right when I find the plane I want for a price I'm willing to afford (sounds pretty advanced, right? Haha). It starts with figuring out the mission, that has been done...

What does a "normal" market look like?

Your point is well taken. In that context, only 1 of the 3 (income) would sway my plane buying decision unless something else was extreme (like a huge drop in my investments). Even then, the adjustment (due to a decrease in investments) may just be time till retirement, not really an impact to...
