    Hershey bar wings and landing

Was this in a PA32 or a 28? I know in our PA32, this is EXACTLY how it is. In fact, just last week my wife and I were flying into Venice Beach and I turned base/final and was very high. She said she didn't really notice... but the sight picture was very awkward and similarly to what you...

    Hershey bar wings and landing

I learned in a 172, then moved over to a PA28-180 with the Hershey bar wings. I don't recall any issues with the PA28 but we did do a LOT of power off's in the pattern and got very use to how they rounded out and flared. Since then, we purchased a Cherokee Six, PA-32-300 and it also has the...

    Flight Reviews While Traveling (Orlando)

Chuck's brother is also a DPE I believe. I don't think the "DPE thing" is part of the business per se, kind of a side thing they are both able to do. I thought Chuck was telling me that the son in law or something (basically the next generation) is running the show now. He's kinda...

Renter's insurance is quick/easy/cheap to get. If you needed to get it, you could then drop the insurance shortly after... minimize the cost even more (although it's pretty cheap).

KWVI Watsonville MId Air, Multiple Fatalities

I think he was asking about the actual number of seconds it takes to deploy the landing gear. I'm guessing 4-8s? But more than 2s for sure.

    VFR Altitude

Simple... the way I intended (my typing just didn't correlate to my intentions). You'll need to go back on re-read post #21 carefully, it goes into more detail as to my deficiency in how I responded. Another pat on your back - you're right bud... you are right. And by saying so - I was...

    VFR Altitude

My lord... you're arguing a point I was NOT intending to be interpreted the way it was. I should have expanded and SPECIFICALLY called out the portion of 91.159 I was referring to. Sorry I left that out. I'll try harder next time in my completeness. The way you interpreted it - YES IT WAS...

    VFR Altitude

Sorry... I was not clearer in my response. That's not what I was meaning but can understand how it was interpreted the way it was.

    VFR Altitude

I wasn't clear I guess. I was specifically talking about 91.159 about the requirements when above 3000 AGL and flying Eastbound vs Westbound.

    VFR Altitude

Can you clarify? Specifically which part of the following is wrong? --> "at least I thought I said VFR altitudes are in MSL not AGL and 3000 is not a VFR altitude (as it relates to cruising altitudes per the reg)" If you're talking about the fact that he was at 2200' AGL, yes I missed that...

    VFR Altitude

No need to brush up... Nothing I said was incorrect... at least I thought I said VFR altitudes are in MSL not AGL and 3000 is not a VFR altitude (as it relates to cruising altitudes per the reg). But I did miss the part where you said you said you were 2200 AGL - so my apologies for missing that.
  14. 1000RR

    VFR Altitude

3000 MSL is not a VFR altitude. Eastbound would be 3500/5500/7500 etc. West bound 4500/6500/8500/etc. All in MSL. VFR altitudes are not in AGL.

    Unnecessarily Long Bahamas Trip Write-Up

We have a PA-32-300/Cherokee Six. Five of us went along with a smallish dog (20lbs). It was truly an amazing trip. Spent a week on Spanish Wells (highly recommend).

    Unnecessarily Long Bahamas Trip Write-Up

Had the same ambition as you... got my PPL July of last year... got my instrument this past March... and all along the way to getting my PPL dreamed of flying my family to the Bahamas. Made it happen this past June and it was pretty incredible! Keep the dream, you'll be there before you know it!

    Unnecessarily Long Bahamas Trip Write-Up

Are you talking about life jackets, raft, etc.? Raft on the light side is 20lbs-ish, could be a hair less. But they can easily go 30-50lbs and also easily to 80lbs just depending on the model. There are some very light weight versions (without canopies, survival gear, etc.) and there are much...
