    Endorsements

Hi All. I have been flying for a long time, 46 years to be precise. I have never had a tail wheel endorsement nor complex or high performance. Got my IR in 1976 and have commercial. I hate to use the word "grandfather" , but should I get these written into my present logbook at next...

    Portable Oxygen systems

Dallas, I can not believe all the miss information on here. Want to hear the truth from a tightwad aircraft owner? First of all there is only one way to purchase O2 bottles, go for the aluminum 24 cu ft bottles, you buy them off EBay or from yard sales. Buy the medical oxygen bottles...

And Now, Allow Me to Introduce...

Glad to see that no posters are talking about parts. Commander parts are easier to get then Cessna or Piper parts and at half the price. Folks who have never flown a Commander, or owned one, will tell you that parts are not available. This is not true. I have owned two 112 Hotshots and...

    Celebrity Endorsements

I would say that advertising puts me off a product. The only difference between the beer that I buy (budget) and the premium brand of beer is that I do not get to see the name of my beer on the side of a race car. When a prof golf player tells me what kind of oil to use in my tractor I do...

    C172 slips with flaps...POH's updated?

Scooter, Are we allowed to change the POH?????? I have a situation where I am instructed to take off on left tank or right, not both. before Ser# xxx, My plane has been modified with the newer fuel selector where the POH says take off on both tanks. Common sense tells me to use both...

    Aviation-related give-aways?

Folks. Lets think about it. When flying a long cross country is there anything that you really wanted. Really needed. Cost so little but so needed. Yes, the "Human Element Flight Extender" approved by the "TWBC" ( teeny weeny bladder club). So you company purchases them in bulk, has...

    Livingston, TX to Orlando, Fl

I would avoid TLH, only one FBO well named Million Air. At least they now have a SS pump but have charged me handling fees in the past. KISM is a great airport and Kissimmee Jet Center is the best. Not fancy but my kind of FBO. Airnav has some great fuel prices shown.

    Annual inspection due date

they call it an annual inspection, but if done right it is a 13 month inspection. Just completed mine a week of so ago. It ran out on May 31st and the new one was signed off on June 4th. So it is now good until June 30th. 2016, when I will do the inspection and have it signed off on July...

    IFR Student.

Any advice for an old bastard like myself, turned 70 last week ( that is 21 Celsius) and fly regularly. I got my PPL in England in 1968 and then did it again in the USA. Got my IR in about 1977. Number of hours are lost as the log books burned up with the planes. For insurance purposes I...

    IMC Club

Hi Folks. Anyone on here a member of imcclubs.org. We are trying to get one started locally, sounds very interesting and informative. They match you up with members that have the same avionics that you have in your plane. I am in a situation where I am needing to share information...

Missed a chance at a joke on frequency

The joke that liked to pull was at our class Delta airport that had very little traffic. The tower would close at 8pm and we had a very sweet female controller. I would fly to the airport and plan to arrive at 7:45 and do some T&Gs. Right at ten minutes to eight right before the "Tower...

This is why GA is going to die ...

An airplane is no better than its "Owners Group", Hundreds of owners willing to help you and group purchases, group fabricating and more advantages than I can put in a single post. I own a Commander for this very reason; We do not even have a factory to rape us. I like it this way. Life...

    Private Checkride Tomorrow

Funny but stupid, on my private in 1970 the DPE cut the power over an old military field that was still occasionally used. He told me to put it on the numbers. I did a complete balls up of the approach and was at two hundred feet halfway down the runway. I told him that I thought that it...

    Rental "damage", after return

Being in the rental business myself I am very cautious at the rental counter. Car rental companies have such low rates that all the profit is made selling unnecessary insurance and damage claims to cars. This is especially so in Europe. If you read the contract in it entirety you will find...

    Class Bravo Question.

Hi. A resent flight into Orlando Kissimmee (KISM) left me with some questions that I am not sure about. Arrived in the Orlando area VFR and was cleared into Class Bravo, when I reported the airport in sight I was instructed to contact the tower and stay clear of Class Bravo. I was still...
