    My ancient David Clark headsets seemed to be losing their passive noise cancelling ability. I replaced the foam and ear seals with a kit from Oregon Aero.

    If it is almost brand new, Sporty's or David Clark should repair/replace it under warranty.

    The David Clark H10-13.4 uses a M7A microphone element. There is an amplifier built into the mic..... maybe intermittent electronics internal to the mic, is the headset new or used? A replacement mic is available from Aircraft Spruce and others for approx. $39.95

    I found a Doctor on the AOPA list. He is an AME who also does Basic Med. Cost was the same as FAA 3rd Class.

    Both mags overhauled at the same time from the same shop, with parts from the same vendor, with the same manufacturing lot number is the same as putting all your eggs in the same basket.
