Another DC headset maintenance tip is to use fine Scotchbrite to remove the oxide layer from the brass phone and mic plugs.

My ancient David Clark headsets seemed to be losing their passive noise cancelling ability. I replaced the foam and ear seals with a kit from Oregon Aero.

If it is almost brand new, Sporty's or David Clark should repair/replace it under warranty.

The David Clark H10-13.4 uses a M7A microphone element. There is an amplifier built into the mic..... maybe intermittent electronics internal to the mic, is the headset new or used? A replacement mic is available from Aircraft Spruce and others for approx. $39.95

A compass card mounted to the right of the starter switch/ handle should meet the requirements. A holder and card are available from Aircraft spruce. photo attached
