Want To Buy Headset for a toddler

I appreciate the info. I will soon have a young granddaughter flying with me and this helps a lot!

AvWx Workshops - kind of disappointing

Scott's referring to WeatherSpork. (https://weatherspork.com) I discovered WeatherSpork last year. I find it incredibly useful for planning cross country trips.

Do you own a Piper Cherokee 6XT (PA-32-301XTC)?

I own a 2006 Piper Cherokee 6XT (PA-32-301XTC). Piper only made 51 of this turbocharged model. If you own one and would like to join an informal group of 12 other 6XT owners to share information, DM me.

    Battery Maintainer

I use a BatteryMinder on my PA-32. Works great. I keep it plugged in when not flying so I always know she's ready to fly. I can also play with the avionics in the hangar without fear of draining the battery. I bought the optional connectors kit and had my A&P install the lead so it is in the GPU...

Solutions foot getting sick due to heat/turbulence?

I was getting ill on every IR training flight. Stress, warm temps, turbulence, lack of visual clues, etc. Wife bought me a cheap neck cooling wrap. Like the damp terry face cloths mentioned above, it worked great. Left both hands free to fly, too.

    C172 Shoulder Harness Recommendations

I put the BAS with Standard buckle into my C172N. Highly recommended. I lease that plane to a flight school and the BAS harnesses have held up really well despite hundreds of students and pilots. Later I bought a Piper Cherokee 6XT and installed BAS with the Utility buckle. BAS doesn't offer...

Who cleared this guy to fly MU-300?

Responding to the OP: About 20 years ago, and long before I got interested in becoming a pilot, I was in the right seat of a client's nice twin arriving at Dallas Love at night. ATC told us to enter a left downwind for the shorter runway used by GA aircraft. I thought I knew enough to understand...

    Arrival Plates purpose

Knowing the published arrivals also lets me, as a small piston pilot, know where NOT to be before ATC has to tell me.

    Huh?

I was unaware of prop-locks before now. It appears that a prop-lock would seriously damage your airplane if the thief didn't care or failed to notice it. Would a locking wheel chock on the nose gear be better? Or is there another security device that's more effective? FYI: I own a Piper...

    Precise meaning of “continue downwind”

I sometimes receive a "continue on right downwind" instruction from the tower at my home field. It's always for sequencing. They tell me when to turn base. And, no, they've never forgotten me. It's a Joint Base runway with F-16 and C-5 traffic as well as GA traffic. The military pilots often...

Awwww... NUTS!! (AAL First Class Nuts even....)

FYI: I bought a four-pack of 3 x Aloha Mix and 1 x Mixed Nut. The Aloha Mix is pretty awesome with dried fruits along with premium nuts. Told my wife to put a handful of the Aloha Mix in her mouth, sit back, relax, close her eyes, and dream of sitting in First Class en route to Maui cause it's...

    Raptor Aircraft

Not sure if that's how this particular escrow service works. These are deposits for future orders. I would think that if the Raptor gets certified and when your spot comes up, your deposit-in-escrow is applied to the initial payment. If you decide not to proceed, your deposit is forfeited. From...

    Wanted: CFII for trip

I did this, although not by design and I had a few IFR lessons completed (both ground and flight). We encountered many situations you just don't get in routine training. I found it to be one of the most beneficial and instructive flying experiences I've ever had.

    PA32-300. Am I a Cherokee or a Saratoga?

I own a 2006 PA-32-301XT Piper Cherokee 6XT. When asked, I just tell ATC it's a PA-32. Not sure that grumpy KHWD controller would have believed me! It's what Piper described to the FAA as a Saratoga II TC with fixed gear; they only made 51 of them. The previous owner used "Saratoga" in his...

    Conroe and New Braunfels

I think that the situation regarding Covid-19, public health, and business in central Texas is changing rapidly as the numbers rise again. I live in San Antonio and it looks like we may be headed for reversals on the relaxed requirements. The number of available ICU beds and ventilators in Bexar...

Does PSI now have a monopoly on written exams?

I have no affiliation or relationship to PSI or any other testing agency, but years ago my company was a certified testing site for a certain computer-aided-design software company. We had no competing test sites in two of our office locations (large cities) and only one "competitor" in each of...

    Wheelchair Plane Options

A possible downside of the Piper PA-32 design is that the nice big easy entry is in the rear. If your wife likes to sit up front and next to you, she may not enjoy the isolation. My wife has some mobility issues and sits in the back only when the right front seat is occupied. Just having the...

Looking for options to get a plane to fly

Some thoughts: I suspect some of the central Texas flights schools will see a drop in business activity. Some have specialized in training future airline pilots and that business may slow for a while. They might consider a better deal on a multi-day rentals for an aircraft that isn't being...
