Want To Buy INDEPENDENT CFII near Michiana w/in 40 miles of KMGC

This is exactly why I was looking for an independent. Cost is only part of it... the other side of that coin is how flight schools are run... I did finally find an independent that I feel very comfortable with. Not as many hrs per week as I would like but definitely a good match. And he is...

Want To Buy INDEPENDENT CFII near Michiana w/in 40 miles of KMGC

Interesting you say that i was pretty ignorant about these things. I was at an faasafety event put on by Eaa104.org just last Saturday, and the dupage FISDO GUY (not gonna drop names...) said an interesting fact, I can’t re quote exactly, but baiscally he said exactly that south bend Indiana...

Want To Buy INDEPENDENT CFII near Michiana w/in 40 miles of KMGC

Thanks for the data point. I think 60 for TW is reasonable myself because insurance is more so those number seem very close to what I am looking for. But I need the focused commitment. Not 1 or 2 hrs per week, over 6+ months.

Plane crash- not even sure what to say

Looks like he was a B-737 pilot from Korea... From Airman's DB I removed the name and address to protect the innocent... or guilty as it may be... And based on the fact that he was listed as 26 years old (2019 - 2013) means he was most likely 19 or 20 when he got the commercial cert. Name...

"Spoofed" N-number -- who ya gonna call?

1-4 are a lot of work, just keeping your own flights and plane log accurate takes time. I would do 1 thing first. Create a NASA Report it's "confidential" and has some real benefits for the type of FAA interaction you might encounter. Also, those reports do get studied, so specifics may help in...

Anyone gone back to a passive headset after using noise cancelling?

I switched from light speed to faro in ear https://www.faroaviation.com/in-ear-aviation-headset.html I did not like the white noise hum. Then I gave my lightspeed to my wife, and the seals just never really sealed well. She could not stand them. So we sent them back, and I bought her...

    Marion Indiana Accident

Correct, the word ‘rely’ was added by me reading between the lines... and the preliminary report stated ‘utilized’. Also, the report very carefully chose the phrase “Two of the witnesses stated that they heard the Cessna 150 pilot on runway 15 UNICOM frequency.” - exact quote from The...

The technology is being developed, and is currently in place at 50+ larger airports currently, yes. As software and data systems are enhanced, and ADS-B is adopted and expensive components will no longer be needed to increase the adoption rate. Understanding how Satellite based solutions can...

    Marion Indiana Accident

I wasn't able to really follow the entire back/forth about the discussion above, but a couple of points I wanted to make: So kinda interesting as I have been doing more investigation, I was not really clear on what all the "NextGen" feature the FAA had in store, and there is some really good...

    Marion Indiana Accident

Don't know anyone involved, but I fly in that area from time to time. There are a few other reasons: 1. This accident is very disturbing to me for some reason, I think it is because I am unclear what the C150 could have done to prevent it. Also, in a collision where two planes are on a...

    Marion Indiana Accident

Based on the picture I am looking at, and matching the runway cracks that you see in the picture with the google earth images, it now appears that the jet landed on 4,(which makes sense I think the ceilings were about 2500 so ILS would be a good candidate and the A5 lights might have been on)...

    Marion Indiana Accident

I Notice several local airports with 122.7 as the ctaf, I am wondering if liveatc.net or someone else has a recording close enough to pick things up, I know my radio hears Ottowa IL from Valparaiso IN. I listened to all of Grissom from about 4:30 local time to about 5:15 local time and did not...
