Trent Palmer (YouTuber Bush Pilot Channel) Suspended By FAA

Ok so here is my question. lets say you do that, and you have violated the 500 foot rule. but no metal was bent, so you file a NASA ARS report. can the FAA still enforce?

Did the Instrument rating ever used to expire?

Thanks for that video... I don't want to be a passenger or a pilot on that. man things could go wrong in a hurry. That was nerve-racking just watching!

Did the Instrument rating ever used to expire?

I am still not sure how comfortable I am flying it down. I have set my Personal IFR mins at MVFR. and to be honest, I have never had to reschedule a flight with those Personal mins. you almost have to go looking for bad weather to fly an approach down to near DA or DH.

Did the Instrument rating ever used to expire?

So 6 approaches within past 6 months, but if that lapses, you still have 6 months to get current. once that lapses (12 months so technically 13 months 6 months following out of currency) then you have to have a CFII or DPE sign you off. And once that second 6 months lapses, there is no option...

    VOR Checks

I did infact read it. And based on the Yellow highlighting and hand written notes in my FAR/AIM, it was the second time I ready it. the first most likely in 2015... But I did not remember any of these details... I have always just done the air borne dual VOR check, honestly my deviation has...

57% of private pilots are instrument rated

And one more think it will do is keep you out of trouble. One time I came really close to bravo airspace, and another time I came dangerously close to a restricted area in Kansas. either of those would have been bad. Lucky my Garmin kept complaining and my wife kept asking why it kept...

Pilots with Sonex experience - Talk me out of (or in to) a Sonex

That is a good analogy, and really makes sense. a sonex airframe is not an Aeronca, and not the same mission.

    Orlando DA-42 taxi fatality

Ok, so my only question in this type of aircraft, or any for that matter, would gear up give you a better chance of not nosing over?

    Comfortable Ownership?

Listen to this advice. This is the best there is. I am in a flying club where 1 guy became an A&P, and will soon get IA signature athority. We have a great relationship with another A&P/IA on the field, and spend time at his shop talking and learning (and he will talk...) Also we are all...

Pilots with Sonex experience - Talk me out of (or in to) a Sonex

I really like the idea of a VW engine. I have a 73 Kombi, and am really familiar working with the engine... do you have any statistics on this or is it just a perception?

57% of private pilots are instrument rated

And I am a PP that just got an IR rating (after about 4 years of trying, expired written causing 2 written tests to be taken, pandemic expired an initial discontinued check ride, not flying for about 18 months and then getting back into it.) so at the end of the day I had to basically prep...

    VOR Checks

Really interesting. does anybody actually know the range on a VOT? I have never done one but will look for a chance to do that whenever I see one available and in range.

ILS at KVPZ LOM NDB out of Service question?

I always wondered why this said ADF required and never asked. and I have flown it simulated/hood many times without the ADF. Editing to add: BTW the OM works. I hear the tone when I fly over it. So if I was on Localizer only I could easily identify it via the OM tone. Just then NDB is...

ILS at KVPZ LOM NDB out of Service question?

So I am posting 2 questions in the same week strange. Normally I just lurk. Ok, yesterday I wanted to get some Actual IMC. So I grabbed a flight instructor because it was looking more iffy than I wanted, and we filed and left. The controllers at KSBN were so busy we had to wait 15 mins to get...

Why "RNP APCH." listed in required equipment for RNAV (GPS)-A at KDUH.

So that is the first confusing question: and I think the answer is that there is a significant difference between "RNP AR APCH" and "RNP APCH" where the former requires special crew training. However, Based on this statement from the FAA factsheets pdf above: The expansion of Global...

Why "RNP APCH." listed in required equipment for RNAV (GPS)-A at KDUH.

I can't understand why the required equipment line has "RNP APCH." listed for the following approach: https://aeronav.faa.gov/d-tpp/2108/05811RA.PDF Very specifically, I read...
