    Continental's view on oil.

The recommened one hr of flight each week is almost imposiable for some of us. only about 10% of the planes based at my airport are lucky to see a hr each month, the rest just sit.

    100LL And Lead Exposure

I get that test done yearly since I work around and with 100LL on a regular basis. Ive never had a rise in lead levels even with working with it all the time.

    A&P training requirements question

Or just find an A&P willing to sign you off for the 30 months of practical experience time and take it to the FSDO, Ive seen that happen before when the applicant had very little practical experience and the next thing I knew he had his A&P ticket.

Check out this NTSB report for a plane I rent regularly

I doubt any owner will do that SB. I have a hard time getting some owners to even do AD's.

1 hour to empty - crosswind landing

1 hour to empty - crosswind landing

Shouldnt be a issue if you keep the selector on both. If the winds were that strong i think i would have went to a alternate airport with a runway more aligned with the winds. Ive often worried about this exact thing if the winds were unsafe to land at my intended airport and low on fuel.

IA here also. I do annuals and avionics installs or anything else that will pay the bills. I annual a Navajo every year that the owner is a a&p and is always a smooth annual.

what's wrong with general aviation today?

2k for a xponder repair sounds a little steep, and 600 for shipping (if that was just shipping) is too much. The rest sounds about right, folks forget that many shops have fixed overhead expenses like insurance, hangar rent, utilities, etc.. that cost many thousands every year.

Mechanic needed KBYY (Bay City, TX.)

Is there enough potential there to support a mechanic? Maybe thats why there isnt one there. 40 based planes may not be enough to support a mechanic unless they are all active planes, which typically isnt the case. I know this from experience myself.

Question about working MX for airlines

A lot of airlines will hire through employment agencies to test drive the mechanic first, or to just fill a shortfall then let you go. Ive worked for employment agencies, large fbo's, small fbo's and in the end none will provide you with stable work or long term employment. Thats why I decided...

    Pay up front for parts

I used to be able to carry a part if it was under a 1000 bucks, but not anymore since things have slowed up. For example I bought a tube and tire for a bonanza two months ago and just now got paid, that was a long stretch.
