I do that all the time. There are other local folks that come out and plane spot when it's warm out. I took one of them flying last summer and he really enjoyed the flight.

i always cancel a flight if there is Airmet Tango in effect for my intended flight path. ive been in heavy turbulence before i don't care to go back.

I did mine last October also and passed and havent got any letters yet so I guess im good for another 5 years also.

Will be driving to Iowa then driving back to Missouri.

Every winter I take a 2-3 month hiatus because of short daylight hrs and weather. Flying in the winter is tough, but Glad to hear you are back in the air!

Bruce is right. We all are not like that. Some shops around my neck of the woods are begging for work and will bend over backwards to assist a customer. Work is so thin around here I just drove 250 miles to do some repairs on a cherokee and didnt charge him a cent for mileage.

I've been flying a variety of 172's for many years and I don't necessarily find it easy to fly especially landing in x winds. Can i fly yours? :wink2:

Turbulance does take the fun out of flying. There have been times ive had to land while on cross countries due to turbulance and wait many hrs for the atmosphere to settle down.

Yes i have. But unfortunately there are no CFI's around my local port and i haven't had much luck finding one that is willing to come to our local airport.

Thats true. Seems every year when I take a cross country to Wisconsin I always get stuck at some airport because of the weather or winds. So far flying a 172 on trips has not been a reliable source of meaningful transportation.

Thats for sure, lol. Ive been caught out in 30kt sfc winds before about 7 years ago, and had a tough choice on where to land. It wasnt pretty and i didnt fly for quite a while after that, but nothing was bent. Ive been a lot more careful now not to get in those conditions ever since.

It worried me, lol. And it was a gusty wind too. Ive had that limit for many years, but being pressured and having that limit questioned makes me question my decision making.

There was about a 6 kt x wind factor to go with that wind. BTW there was about 200 rides given, but there was still about 15 that didnt get to go since I canceled. I still wonder If i could have done it.

Had a good example of other pilots attempting to pressure me into flying today beyond my personal limits. Had a fly in today at our local airport and various different pilots were giving first time rides to folks. We had a lot of folks lined up wanting plane rides. There was about 6 pilots...

Sorry i couldnt make it, just too windy for me to attempt a landing at Lamar with the x wind, so my whole flying activities got canceled today once again due winds.
