    Lack of AME's in NYC

I did a search for all NY AME's and I don't think I saw that name in the list. But I didn't really look at the doctors in Long Island. My preference was the 5 boroughs. I found one in Queens. Dr. Dmitry Renzikoff.

    Attempted Scam

My elderly parents who speak little English got scammed on a much smaller level, but to them it's a lot of money. I was not able to go that weekend, so I sent them to MetroPCS, a cell phone company. One lost their cell and the other wanted to get a new phone. MetroPCS has official company...

    Planning flight FRG-LDJ

Is there some weird traffic pattern at Linden due to proximity to Newark? TPA is 799 (under the 800 Newark bottom shelf), and even though the traffic pattern is a regular left pattern according to the sectional, I heard that some people choose to do a right pattern for 09 to avoid getting in...

    Planning flight FRG-LDJ

I'm doing this route on Saturday. This will be my first time into an un-towered airport. I've done it a handful of times with a CFI (during training). I know the call outs and all so that's not an issue, but on the ground, when taxiing a tower will control flow of traffic so planes aren't on...

    Lack of AME's in NYC

There used to be a ton of them, and now there are only a handful who are doing class III medicals. I'm assuming due to BasicMed, most got out. Anybody have any recommendations for an AME in NYC area? Or should I go with BasicMed? I have a SODA for vision issue in one eye. I don't know if...

3rd Class medical expiring, can I wait 2 more years for doctor?

Last night, I realized that my 3rd class expires end of this month. I did it 5/13/13. I was under 40. Now, I'm over 40, so now it's every 2 years. I hve to go find an AME. I have a SODA for vision in the left eye. I assume that I will need to bring it to my medical.

Not flying enough to stay insured?

When I renew rental insurance, they always send a questionnaire to update hours, training, certificates, etc. Last year, I only flew a little over 9 hours (5-6 flights). Lack of time, work, etc Can the insurance (AVEMCO) drop me or raise my premium for not flying enough?

    New Traffic Pattern Advisory Circular

There are not many non-towered fields where I trained. But one of the CFI's used to tell us not to say our tail number when flying into a nearby non-towered field because there was a guy listening and writing down the tails to send them bills for landing fees. " Blue/white Piper Cherokee..."

    Marion Indiana Accident

I figured that out after I wrote it. That's what scares me about flying, the other guy. I'm very confident in my abilities. And I don't take unnecessary risks. But you can't control what the other guy does. Like not listening to CTAF and taking off on a crossing runway while you are...

    Helicopter Down in East River

Heard on the news this morning... Prelim NTSB report came out and states that the floats on one side inflated more than the other. Also, the pilot noticed that a passenger's harness (I think they said harness) accidentally shut off the fuel valve and he re-engaged it and got some engine power...

Have u ever scrapped a flight because of a “feeling”?

I have that weird feeling almost every single time I fly. It always comes over me on the 1 hour drive to the airport. And since I only fly in good weather (clear/nearly clear, no storms in area, good forecast, winds <20), for me it's not weather related. In my case, I think it's the thought...

Thanks for all the help. I was planning to get FF and ask for Bravo clearance but not expecting to get it. If not, I'll stay under the Bravo by JFK then climb to 1400 (under 15) and hug the coast up to Coney Island then turn west by VZ to try to avoid as much water as possible, and head west...
