    Anyone switch foreflight <==> FlyQ?

FlyQ announced there new product last night via webinar, I sat in on it. A lot of new stuff in "red barn" (version4.0), both the app and online versions. Kind of going the "social media" route of sharing flights with friends. It's kind of cool, it wasn't ready for prime time yet, and they said...

    Removing engine gauges

Thanks! Yes I'm a member of socata.com, great resourceful group. Ryan F makes a good point, the ipad is very interactive. That's really why i wanted the IFD100 on the yoke mount, and Garmin Pilot on the panal. I'm changing frequencies and changing things on the flight plan often on the IFD100...

    Removing engine gauges

It's a Trinidad. That was in the mountains, western Wyoming I'd guess. I'm at 11,500 so indicated air speed is only 122, true airspeed at that altitude would be just over 150, I'll true out at 154 at 9500 to 10,500. Lose a little higher than that because I can no longer maintain 65% power, which...

    Removing engine gauges

Looking for opinions on removing all the old engine gauges. I'll include a picture of my current panel. I'm having an ei MVP50P installed, so it's a certified replacement for all my engine gauges. It's going in the lower portion of the center stack, I'll be taking out the Garmin 496. On the...

    Plane Down-Western Iowa

That's sad. I flew into Worthington MN that day in the afternoon. Sky conditions were overcast at around 6000. I was coming from the north and had to divert quite a ways to the east to get around some snow showers and low clouds. But I think south the weather was better. I wonder how many hours...

    Running out of fuel

The lowest I've been is about 12.5 gallons remaining, landing VFR at night. I burn ~13.5/hr so I was just under 1 hr of fuel remaining. I was managing fuel closely so I knew what I had in each side, and I'm always conservative when punching in amount in fuel totalizer, so probably had an extra...

    Dakota Vs SR20

I looked at SR20 and 22's when I was shopping, nice planes but chute repack and upfront cost scared me off. I ended up finding a Socata Trinidad, same cabin width as a Cirrus (50"), 1100 # useful load, cruise at 9500' is 154 kts true burning 13 to 13.5 gal/hr. Easy to fly, trailing link gear so...

AOPA Caribbean and Bahamas Flight Guide Apps

I ordered one last year before our trip to the Bahamas, took longer to get it than what I expected so it arrived the day after we had left. The guide itself is excellent tho, wish we would have had it along. Hopefully we'll go again this winter and we can use it then.

How do I enter this into a GTN 750?

    Got it, thanks!

How do I enter this into a GTN 750?

Playing with the IFD training app on my ipad I found how you do this on the IFD series. The IFD has a user waypoint tab to create a user defined waypoint, that process is similar to the GTN, select new, change to rad/dis, pretty simple. Once created you can select that waypoint using the rubber...

How do I enter this into a GTN 750?

Thanks for the explanation, maybe that's why they give you that "spot", knowing it's pretty much at that fix, so the pilot can use it in there box. I had a hard time getting 15nm on the 315 radial from PHK programmed in on my IFD100 app (just working from my desk), but using ULLMN worked the same.

How do I enter this into a GTN 750?

ULLMN intersection is 15mn from PHK on the 315 radial. Why wouldn't ATC just given you that intersection?

Avidyne IFD440 and 540... who has one?

I've been using my IFD440 for just about a year now, and I can say not seeing the nav frequencies has never been an issue for me, but I do use the IFD100 app and you can see them displayed there. I'd guess most people that have the 440 use the IFD100 as well. The IFD540/550 owners may not use it...

    Bahamas, Nov 2018

We flew into the Bahamas in March of 2018. It was easier than I thought it'd be. I was really nervous about getting the paperwork correct but it went fine. We flew in and out of Fort Pierce, they were great but would not help with the paperwork, they made it sound like they weren't able to do...

How did you become interested in Aviation?

This is a great thread, such interesting stories on how other got involved in aviation. My story is boring! Although I've always loved flying I hadn't had the opportunity or money to get my ppl until later in life. We'd bought a cabin in northern MN, we live in SW MN, so it was about a 6 hr...

    ForeFlight vs. Garmin Pilot

I can't speak to FF, but with GP "standard" you do get 3 devices per subscription. I have it on my Samsung phone, Ipad mini and Ipad pro. Mainly use it on the mini yoke mounted, use the Ipad pro mostly for planning and looking at the weather while on the ground. I also have a FlyQ subscription...

    More Piper Comanche questions!

Have you looked at a Socata TB20? I think it'd fit your mission well. 50" wide cabin (both front and back seats), 2 doors, no CG issues, 86 gal of fuel in 2 tanks, no cowl flaps, trailing link gear for smooth landings and high wing load for smooth flight. Absolutely dirt simple to fly really...
