    The $20/hour Cessna 172 experiment—Update

The performance, fuel flow and airspeed is depicted on posted inflight videos. If you believe we are doctoring the data and IAS, that’s your right. We tried using raw flight video to exhibit said data, including date and times WX conditions can be verified. Our data is not much different from...

    The $20/hour Cessna 172 experiment—Update

Sorry you missed article’s description of main issues project faces…..it is not the certification process at all. It was regulatory leadership preventing us from developing the design in the first place. As a former DER, the cert process is , as you say , outlined after negotiations and such...

    The $20/hour Cessna 172 experiment—Update

No, seriously, we are not that foolish. Fact is the project started out as an engineering challenge and a fun project. And it was. Our goal was to take this design, learn a lot, and evolve it to hybrid as automotive technology development allowed. We don’t have enough $ or time to both develop...

    The $20/hour Cessna 172 experiment—Update

Actually, it’s anything but a scrapper from practical sense. It flys better than any c172 and fun to fly. A couple of guys built a couple of hundred hours on it and are now flying for the airlines as a result. No reason it can’t continue. Selling it exposes builder to above average liability...

    The $20/hour Cessna 172 experiment—Update

sorry you got that out of the article …. Don’t see how how you came to conclusion about it being about “beeyotch”ing……article was was requested to update earlier article and it’s was intended to be factual about progress, and magazine editor found it factual and without such bias. Sorry you...

    The $20/hour Cessna 172 experiment—Update

Please explain more….. what is the difference you mention and why an auto engine cannot be a variable replacement.WW2 aircraft used auto engines. All certified diesels are auto conversions……. What’s your point? Please reference technical data so to get a better understanding of your statement...

Experimental using part 23 hull as starting point

Somewhere in the internet there's a story about a guy who did just that. He bought a bunch of components from different salvage yards on the cheap in the 1980s; a wing from here, a tail from there, ect. He rewired, re-rivited, welded, fabricated, painted the thing, even installed parts from...

Experimental using part 23 hull as starting point

just replying to a question posted by member regarding my personal, relevant, current experience with topic. as always, not promoting anything regardless of your insistence that I am.... not sure what your issue(s) are but I find you annoying.

Experimental using part 23 hull as starting point

age old question...... many believe the FAA has no budget for GA and no political pressures except from hobby groups like AOPA and EAA, compared to airlines, and they simply want GA to go away. many legacy aircraft that were scrapped or parted-out over last couple of decades could still be...

Experimental using part 23 hull as starting point

Our c172 is EXP and have first happens knowledge on subject of converting to exp. FAA uses a 1950s policy still today that basically states certified aircraft, or large portions thereof, can not be converted to exp outside of very specific purposes, and that said conversions must go through STC...

Private and commercial pilot training in EXPERIMENTAL C172

Again, I really only posted here for an update of the project based on request for updates. I don't want to get into technical debate or for different EXP categories and prefer to simply post the FAA reference for anyone to look at for themselves..... I learned it only turns into a distracting...

Private and commercial pilot training in EXPERIMENTAL C172

RyanB…… that’s a pretty definitive statement…. Seeing that FAA already issued a G1 paper for the STC and that the 2 certified diesels are auto conversions…… not to mention Porsche and Toyota and Honda part 23 certified engines…..Can you please enlighten me on your statement? Can you also please...

Private and commercial pilot training in EXPERIMENTAL C172

I posted last year about our experimental C172 project that is powered by a V8 aluminum marine engine. Our intent was to significantly lower cost and emissions, including eliminating leaded AVGAS (it is flex-fuel rated so takes most car and rec gas, but AVGAS works as well). We get a number of...

I've had it with Type Certificated aircraft...

;););)Bell 206 Your critical post of my post, and your groundless and insulting claims that I’m merely trying to drum up business and I am promoting some form of trickery to sell something that is not even for sale, is groundless. Let me set you straight on this. RE ops limits … as stated in...

I've had it with Type Certificated aircraft...

Certified GA piston aircraft are not worth it. Find a well built experimental that meets your needs. I wanted 4 seats so choices limited. I put my C172 in EXP with a V8 engine.... my cost went from $64/hr to $20 to fly, had way better performance and could use non-cert/EXP stuff like avionics...

Thinking about a dual sport/adventure Motorcycle

My 2 cents...I have 2008 klr650. I looked at the BMX and others but wanted something parts cheap and easy to fix with a lot of options. ....I've gone thru many plastics. It's big and heavy for real off road, but comfy to ride long distances to get there....there no free lunch in dual purposes.i...

Leaded gas and the EPA...here it comes

The c172 has multipurpose AC.... website www.corsairv8.com for info. The water contamination issue is over blown. When have you ever heard of issues with a car, which doesn't even have inspection drains and many cars store fuel for far longer periods than recommend, and have little in...

Leaded gas and the EPA...here it comes

California is just the start of states that will eliminate AvGAS.... That's the biggest GA market in the world and expect to see higher prices where Avgas will be available as supply will significantly decrease. Expect same nationwide as other states follow and demand continues to fall. It's a...
