Longshot Question: Any ideas for a Jepp usdate on old handheld?

I have in my grubby paws an old Lowrance Airmap 100. It works great - however, the database is from the early late 1990's. I have all the connector cables (however, no computer with a serial port anymore). I would love to pay to get a Jepp update from anytime even sorta recent into the...

    Aux fuel transfer pump

Matt, I'll direct you to one I have experience with - it is on the bottom of this page for $33: http://www.centralhobbies.com/Fuel/flpmp.htm Other companies make similar products in a range of prices, but I haven't used them. SIG Gas Passer Electric Fuel Pump Round out that new flight...

    Aux fuel transfer pump

Matt, I've used that peristaltic pump by Dave Brown in my R/C days. The gas compatible one is terrible, as the tygon is too stiff and it is a royal pain to pump. There are small geared hand-operated gas compatible pumps available, but the are slow as well - I can't imagine doing 5-6 gallons...

    Financing Options??

Tony, Move up here and I'd split one with you - half the cost then. I'd love to find a local partner in a small taildragger. There certainly have been some real good deals popping up on 120's and 140's in the last 6 months. Tim

    FAA Airmen certificate

Thread Hijack: Looking at certificates on the database, I found one with this limitation which seems odd. Anyone have any thoughts to the reasoning behind it? Limits THE HOLDER SHALL NOT PILOT ANY AIRCRAFT CARRYING PASSENGERS EXCEPT ON FLIGHTS OVER THE ISLAND OF OKINAWA AND WITHIN A...

Please vote: Are you concered about your posts being seen by search engines?

No, I always consider that what I've written can and might be seen by anyone. Furthermore, anything written on a forum, be it in a "members only" area, or sign in area, VIP room, whatever - can be found by someone with enough desire to get to the information. Lastly, I'm not even that fond...

    Spin Training urp

Jay, I did a bunch of spin training and some basic acro training last fall. This is what worked for me. 1) Crystallized Ginger really does help. Eat a few chunks at least 30 minutes before flight. 2) Don't go on an empty stomach/don't eat greasy foods. 3) Go into the spin on a...

    Powder Coating

Many of the snowmobile guys have had hightemp ceramic powdercoating applied to their exhaust. It looks fantastic, and holds up very well. Paint, any paint, is gone quickly. Go to any of the larger snowmobile forums, and do a search for exhaust powdercoating and you have piles of info to...

So the DTV transition gets delayed but 121.5 ELTs are doomed on schedule?

It's not necessarily my opinion that you disagree with. My opinion isn't formed yet, and I'd like to see some solid (logical) arguments FOR it that counter my (gut) reaction. To continue, I don't see the logic behind "my point is if 121.5 ELT was mandatory, then I see no use crying about the...

So the DTV transition gets delayed but 121.5 ELTs are doomed on schedule?

I can understand why 406 ELT's are the best available option, what I don't understand is why they will (eventually) be mandatory. It strikes me a bit like helmet and seatbelt laws strike me. If people want to take an informed risk, why not let them? (oh, and I still use rabbit ears) Tim
