    Cirrus SR series Generation 6?!

Another thing Cirrus does better than anyone is marketing to the wives. The safety aspects of the parachute and blue level button are such a powerful marketing tool to them. Even the comfort of a luxury SUV and car like environmental controls (on the co-pilot side of course) are all geared...

    Cirrus SR series Generation 6?!

I downloaded it via the Plane & Pilot app on my iPad. I think it was $4 for the January issue. Did a quick google and here's a picture of the G6 on the cover of the magazine...

I saw that too. The pilot was commercial rated, but not Instrument. (not that any of those make it OK to fly through a storm)

    2017 year in preview

Should be a fun year. Friend and I are taking delivery of a shiny new SR22 on Feb 7th so my wife and I are already planning several trips. I just got my IFR a few weeks ago, so I will slowly build up my confidence in the new plane in more interesting weather. Goal is to get at least 20 hours...

    Will General Aviation Survive

10-15 for the technology and then another 10-15 for the FAA to allow them. :)

    Will General Aviation Survive

I'd say there are multiple factors, but one obvious factor is simply the economy. Despite what politicians like to say, we have not recovered from 2008 yet so there simply aren't as many people with money looking for places to spend it. I live in Omaha, NE and our economy on average has been...

Agree, Only way in the soup would be firmly on an IAP and even then I wouldn't' exactly be comfortable.

Epic LT Crashes At Spruce Creek (7FL6), 2 Killed

I don't think this is a "get-there-itis" scenario. I listened to the approach ATC and when he checked in and told them he had the weather he said he was pretty sure he wasn't going to be able to land there due to the weather. There's nothing wrong with shooting an approach to see, going...

The final selling point for me was a video at the COPA CPPP (Cirrus Pilots Proficiency Program). It went through multiple scenarios with Cirrus pilots who had identical issues and one chose to pull and all survived and the other chose to try and make a runway or land off airport and died...

It's all about what's in the news. I do go back and read historical factual reports and am pretty sure I've read every fatal report for Cirrus since they came to be. However, I'd say I'm in the minority. Many pilots see what's going on today via the news and whatever and glean what they can...

One of the biggest challenges that the Cirrus Owners Pilots Association (COPA) has found with pilots is getting them to pull the chute sooner rather than later. There have been dozens of fatal Cirrus accidents that would have had a very high likelihood of everyone walking away if the pilot...

Couldn't agree more. If we all do nothing and wait for the final report to come out and then only discuss the facts of that case we are severely limiting the learning potential. Us noobs like me and Cajun want to learn about all potential scenarios that could have caused an incident like this...

The descent did look pretty normal on the graph and if he had an engine out I'd suspect he would have declared an emergency and/or deviated his course.

I tend to agree. We simply don't know what happened at this point, but CFIT seems just as likely as spacial disorientation. As for the BRS discussion, it's a great tool and I love knowing it's there in my Cirrus but it is still no replacement for flight planning and risk management. Low time...
