Question for the CFIIs: PTS vs ACS

I think, and IIRC, there is a code on the test result that gets plugged into IACRA on the DPEs side? Fairly certain the DPE looked at the results before we got started.

Question for the CFIIs: PTS vs ACS

A question for the CFIIs (well mostly!), others welcome to chime in as well. On the first go around, my checkride was by the PTS. Now as I get ready to redo the the checkride - It is the ACS. As instructors - or as anyone who has had the bad luck of taking the ride twice - what are the...

    What makes a good CFII?

Career CFI since the mid-90s. No access to a sim. Hasn't had an instrument student in a long time. 8K+ hours. 5K+ dual given. Majority of the time (all?) in 150, 172, Warrior and the like. Am looking to finish up - I had a good instructor on my first go-around.. but he is unavailable.

    What makes a good CFII?

My startup CFII was great. He would have loved to fly into IMC, but the plane we were renting had some very questionable MX stuff..... Hope to get at least one good IMC flight in this time around, but being close to finish up..... Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Too bad your parents did not live close to KDTL. :D

    What makes a good CFII?

On thread title. Yes: I started out wondering if I should be concerned about flying with him.. and then started thinking about what makes a good CFII in general. He is the closest to my location and is pretty available. Rates are reasonable and unlike the others he is not too busy.

    What makes a good CFII?

I am looking to finish up my Instrument. Failed checkride in Oct 2015. Too many things happened in between and I could not go finish the rating. Written is done and I am looking for a good CFII to finish up the rating with. Work keeps me busy Located one that is within a 45 minute drive of my...

    IFR Written... nerves!

Used the Gleim book and learned the material. Then used Sheppard Air to finish up. Scored 90. That was 2014. Written expired. Had to redo.. read a little. Took the test this AM. 78.. lot more approach and departure questions. Wording has changed on the questions. Good enough score for me...

    C150 landing approach trim

Truth or Myth -- FAA Written Exam

Depends on DPE and the student. I knew a kid who came over from Taiwan to get his PPL-CFI tickets. Kid had a 100% on his IR written, but could not answer any (even basic) questions. DPE sussed it out pretty quickly. Needless to say, oral did not go well. My PPL written was around 77, iR was...

    IR Checkride write up

Congrats. Similar situation as you. Busted about 7 months ago. Written expired. Your post gives me motivation and encouragement to go knock out the rating.... How different was the written? Been studying. But Sheppard air software does not show me any radically new questions.

Commercial & Instrument Training in a twin??

I knew a flight school guy that had a bunch of kids from India he was training. They did their commercial in the twin, and then did the ASEL as an add-on. Made sense, since they needed multi time and he did not have a SE Complex. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
