How do other countries handle flight restrictions around VIPs?

Can lead to problems with the command gradient. "Your Royal Highness, would you mind please considering going around, f**king NOW!" - oops too late. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7472903/Moment-Prince-Charles-crashed-Queens-Flight-jet-1m-smash.html

    Gryoplane accident statistics

Wing Commander Kenneth Wallis DSO MBE CEng FRAeS RAF built and extensively flew numerous autogyros over about 45 years. He died 'in his bed' at the age of 97, flying his machines until shortly before that. Can't be that dangerous, surely? Mind you he seems to have been generally quite lucky —...

HEAT round has two settings? What for?

This just drifted by on twitter regarding GMLRS (I think it is) rocket batteries — "The guidance system is powered by a lithium thermal battery. The electrolyte is solid so the battery won't deteriorate in storage. Just before launch, pyrotechnics inside the battery melt the electrolyte. The...

    Modern Aircraft Cylinder Production (outsourced)

Thanks for that. I have seen a couple of these, I guess Indian, videos previously. Thanks for this one. It is amazing to me to see what gets done with such basic tools. One video I saw earlier was about broken crankshaft repair. They got two broken cranks and welded them together at a journal...

    Standard Rate/Bank Angle

'cos my mathemagics is not up to much. I just worked it out to my satisfaction and missed a bit. On the other hand - the way I have written it uses the same angle into both the trig functions which has a pleasing symmetry. Not sure what I prefer. Usually I guess, no one cares what the...

    Standard Rate/Bank Angle

Maybe I am being too literal - not exponential. Perhaps I have been looking at too many Covid charts? Google sheets uses Radians for angle and so had to be converted to radians which makes a bit of a mess of it for reading the formula in Pilot terms.

    Thinking about a Bus/RV

Fans make the heat exchanger smaller. A lot smaller. I happened to notice that this one claims incredibly quiet fans. https://www.butlertechnik.com/webasto-silencio-5-5kw-water-heat-exchanger-12v-41t0034-p1530 German company I think. I am not going to be choosing one of these, I looked it up...

    Thinking about a Bus/RV

The other day I was looking at water source heaters for use on a sail boat. Idea is to run heater off engine when it is running. There are a wide range of devices available. https://www.butlertechnik.com/installation-accessories-c63/water-heater-matrices-c116...

Flaps and Carb Heat on Landing Rollout

The following are not solutions, only questions. 12% of what? 12% of (RPM ^ 3)? Ah!, if they aircraft was at a stable speed in level flight and the change was made, then the speed would maybe drop 12% - assuming a proportionate power loss (see below). At 2,500 RPM the torque curve will be...

Polarity insensitive LEDs seem to be a thing. Not sure which bulbs are available. Google [car leds no polarity] Recently ran into this on a 12V DC boat. Replaced about 20 overhead G4 lights with LED and all worked first time. Clearly no polarity involved. A while later got some festoon and an...

    High Wing vs Low Wing

These are quite interesting aircraft, I discovered after looking it up. Swedish design (MFI-9) and the one illustrated was made in Germany (Bo 208). Some were converted for military ground attack use with "six French SNEB 68 mm (2.68") unguided folding-fin rockets" and "a number of expensive...
