A lot of those "bus drivers" used to also be "Indy racers"...

I like to point out to people in a variety of circumstances, "there is a big difference between *watching* porn and *starring in* porn."

Becoming a pilot in today’s industry

Never was a "pilot shortage"...always a "compensation shortage".

Does ATC care how you enter a hold?

Yes, I've had that before too, and I agree...they generally have no idea what they're looking at, hehe.

Does ATC care how you enter a hold?

You mean the FAA guys who are type-rated in the aircraft and are the FAA liaisons to the company training department? Yeah, I think they understand the situation okay.

Does ATC care how you enter a hold?

Well, according to the FAA guys that sit on the jumpseat and regularly see it happen, yes. So you can direct your eye-rolling toward them, and the FAA-approved training that has line pilots follow that FMS-generated entry.

Does ATC care how you enter a hold?

The FMS in the transport category aircraft I fly at work rarely does the "proper" hold entry.

    I used to like UPS

As was mentioned earlier...who do you think it is that transports USPS packages around, since you don't see any of these around anymore:

    I used to like UPS

As do many of the passenger airlines. When they're actually flying, that is.

If you're going to shun any package transportation or delivery service that has an irregularity, you're quickly going to fun out of services to use.

Base to final turn, overshoot final, now what?

Well, at least we haven't had anyone advocate for no more than 15 degrees of bank in the pattern yet. I've heard more than one CFI advocate for that one. If 30 degrees of bank is safe, then 15 degrees of bank is safer, right? Maybe if we add a pad to the pad of the pad to the aircraft's...

    SNJ6 Ground Loop - 5C1 - 5/8/20

I was taught to think of the T-6/SNJ as a dominatrix...she wants to have fun with you, but she also is going to take pleasure in getting out her riding crop and giving you a workout with it, especially if you say the wrong thing to her.

Poll...Should Radios Be Required At Non-Towered Airports?

I'd think it would be easy to see that Ron's quote... ...would indicate that the data shows NORDO aircraft are not the problem. Seemed ripe for sarcastic comment, given the flavor of many of the posts about it in this thread that heap blame for a massive perceived problem on guys flying...

Thanks, Ron. Clearly the data shows that non-talkers are the real problem.

    Snowbird down

Just so people have realistic understanding end expectations, even 0/0 seats like the ACES II don't perform well when ejection is initiated with a sink rate. The Weber seats in the Tutor are out of the ejection envelope at pattern-type altitudes (1000' and under) as soon as any sink rate develops.

Poll...Should Radios Be Required At Non-Towered Airports?

Is that the deal now? If you don't hear someone in the pattern on the radio, you don't have to look and clear before you take the runway?

Poll...Should Radios Be Required At Non-Towered Airports?

So that it blasts the folks on the taxiway behind you? If you angle on the taxiway for runup, you still have a perfectly good view of base and final while you are not creating flight control flutter for the other airplanes. :)

Poll...Should Radios Be Required At Non-Towered Airports?

I have to wonder how many folks who are saying that folks should not operate without radios have much experience actually operating without one. If you think it is tough to build pattern awareness with a non-talker in the pattern, you should see what it is like to build SA without a radio at all.

    Airlines and GA

From the 10,000 foot view, and without getting into specific techniques (which I think actually muddies this conversation unfortunately), I think the two things that GA pilots should do that the airlines do is: - Fly with a variety of other pilots to observe and learn from one another (both...
