    Chrome, Cermichrome, Nickle, cerminil

Exhaust leak ate up the flange. Not having the tool to re-surface them, I sent them off for repair. Had I known that It would take over 3 months to get them back, i would have built the tooling, and surfaced the flanges while on the airplane.

My Cherokee had 4 Cermichrome cylinders installed at overhaul. (as denoted by a double orange stripe, and log entry) I recently (3 months ago) sent two off for repair. Just got them back last week. Opened the first box, and got that one installed, didn't think anything of it, as it had orange...

Short in stature.. interested in PPL..

Simple solution: Buy a Taylorcraft, Aeronca Chief, or Luscombe. Learn to fly in it. You'll have no problems with seat height, or short legs, and you'll have tailwheel endorsement as well.

    Connecting a 430W to a KI209A

It would appear that pin 2 on the 430, would connect to pins 1 and 37 on the 209. What would be the problem with installing the switch anyway, and remove all doubt? While mandatory for the 400, and 420, it appears optional for the 430. In this case without the full manual, for the 430, and...

    Departing PDK to the south

I found that I can get from JZP to FO5 quicker in my Cherokee 140, than I can flying the airlines. And cost a little less too! :D

    Bare minimum equipment for IFR

What is the bare minimum equipment to get an IR? IOW can I get an instrument rating in my airplane with it's out dated equipment? or do I need to spend money on upgrades, that would be better spent (IMHO) with flying under the hood. Granted my options at this point are limited to localizer/ILS...

    Connecting a 430W to a KI209A

According to the pinout posted in the OP, for a 14 volt system, pins 1 and 36 are interconnected, and switched to ground to engage the gps input. Also need Aircraft power to pins 35 and 37. for the whole thing to work.

    Getting insurance after a crash

A little story about age and aircraft insurance. My Dad sold his 182 when he was 87, and of course canceled the insurance. A few years later we went in together and bought the Cherokee. He could not be a "named insured" on the policy, due to his age 91. They told us that the cut off was 85...

    Engine failure due to silicone

Thing is that the silicon burns out faster than the metal. I asked about it once, and was told by several mechanics, that they use it to hold the gasket in place while they install the exhaust. I use a piece of safety wire myself. And pull it out when the nuts are started.

    Engine failure due to silicone

How does a glob of silicon on the external side of a fuel anything, get inside the fuel anything? Without some sort of major failure of the system component directly adjacent to the external silicon glob? Unless, per chance, silicon was also used internally, mabe on threads, or some such. I've...

    Talk about out of control...?!

I understand that. That's why they should be on, and no way to turn it off, until your shift is over, and your super turns it off, back at the station.

    Talk about out of control...?!

Why is an officer allowed to fiddle with the body cam? That is something that has allways puzzled me. What prevents a officer simply turning it off, and doing whatever he/she wants to do?
