    Air Wagner..... He’s baaaaackk.

Arguably on a SID, then mins would apply to Part 91 if weather is reported. Was it?

Any tips for a pilot starting instrument?

While not all ATCers are pilots, a decent percentage are. Get to know them through your local pilot community. If there are things they do that increase workload, tell them when they're off. They will work to change things to make it easier on you. Absolutely. Especially a TRACON.

    Air Wagner..... He’s baaaaackk.

You realize that Part 91 flights can take a departure down to 0/0, right?

    I thought I wanted a Mooney...

An Ovation or Acclaim will leave the 22 behind still burning less gas.

    California Wildfire Threatens Marijuana Farms

You assume the product is only being sold in CA.

    California Wildfire Threatens Marijuana Farms

The sole reason a black market for cannabis still exists is because of the absurdity of how the federal government and states that continue to throw people in Prison for plants operate.

Any tips for a pilot starting instrument?

Echo the advice to train at night. Especially doing maneuvering work like unusual attitudes, Oscar pattern and holds.

    Overnight Fee Attached To Prop

Putting an envelope on a prop is bad practice, even if the chance of damage is anorexic to none. The places I've been that do this have always put it on the tail tie down hook, which makes way more sense. Most significant municipal airports have some sort of 24 hour staffing, and I think HII...

Let Discuss Flying in Scattered Thunderstorms

I definitely learned about storms and how to use all the tools at my disposal during my instrument training, where I combined a trip to a conference with a long trip with my CFII. You really get a sense of both how useful and how limited NEXRAD is, and we definitely squeezed every drop of...

    SR22 or Seneca II?

A 172 is much more forgiving of a lack of speed discipline at pattern speeds. I mean, if the airplane is set up right and has good engines, and you fly it with a mask on in Class A, you can get those speeds. That is a bunch of ifs though. As a Tiger owner, I find flying a Cirrus much easier...

    SR22 or Seneca II?

Flying only 60 hours a year in a twin is a recipe for killing yourself. If you understand how to properly maintain airspeed in the pattern, the Cirrus is a much safer bet in that situation. And I have never been a Cirrus guy. Also, Senecas need to be flown high - as in O2 altitudes - to really...

    I thought I wanted a Mooney...

You either love or hate a Mooney. My guess is that I'd be very happy with an Acclaim or Ovation, but pressurization and real radar in a twin starts becoming much more of a priority. I chase down Arrows all day long in the Tiger. It's no contest, and the price difference reflects that. Daher...

Piper PA-28 crash Big Bear, CA

Wow. That really sounds like wind then.

Piper PA-28 crash Big Bear, CA

Big Bear is one of those airports that you think about the DA, but don't think nearly as much about the windshear. The challenges in operating there often have as much, or more, to do with shear than they do altitude. Anyone know the reg?

Does ATC know if you are IR'ed?

That Mooney that went down fairly recently in approach to VNY was likely one of them, sadly.

    IFR or VFR?

I'm fine with the YTers posting their videos and the OP had a perfectly legitimate, interesting question. I know Cirrus drivers who freak out if they need to fly VFR, so a Meridian pilot wondering about how often people in more powerful machines are using VFR to save time and money isn't...

    IFR... it all adds up!

They'll only remove them if they can get lower mins on a straight in approach

Overlfying Canada on a VFR flight plan - do I need to contact Canadian ATC?

I don't disagree that he should carry a passport anyway, but I was strictly stating the actual requirements.

    Cirrus down in Truckee

I'm fairly convinced that SR20s climb better than their reputation after flying one recently, but I agree that they are the kind of plane that you need to really understand the envelope in and not just pull the nose up. I also think they benefit a ton from SureFly installations. Truckee has...
