    206 Upgrades

205/6/7s ply the African Bush constantly with their nose wheels. It is what they are best at, because they sure AF aren't fast for the installed power. I wouldn't change a thing on one of those airplanes if I was Bush flying.

ILS 4 into KUIN - file to?

Yeah, no one is going to violate someone who legit lost comms, or even inadvertently lost comms and shows they learned from it. Still, there is no reason to be clear as mud about these issues - especially in the MON/RNAV era.

International students don't account for all of that volume, because those same students frequently bail from the pattern at SEE and go to RNM, CRQ, SDM or MYF. MYF is also on essentially every IFR checkride in the area.

ILS 4 into KUIN - file to?

And that makes absolutely zero sense - especially where that letter came out of. The TEC routes in that terminal area, and the cross country clearances you get from outside the area, nearly always take you to an IAF or a fix/VOR that defines part of an IAF. I'm pretty sure no one can lose...

    sudden lack of confidence

Maybe it is time to get that instrument rating? Honestly, while I flew plenty of solo VFR when I was a VFR only pilot, I can say I never had the confidence I developed with my IFR. Despite the fact that instrument training requires you have someone next to you, there is something so isolating...

ILS 4 into KUIN - file to?

The whole "file to an IAF" thing is overplayed. As @flyingron said in the thread below, what do you do if you're in IMC when you reach that fix? You are cleared to the airport, not the fix, so do you fly to the airport and fly back? No. If you are lost comms, you fly to the final fix on your...

FMLA and analogous state job protected leaves exist to deal with serious health conditions, which would extend to disabilities as well as certain non-disabilities. And no, you are absolutely, 100% incorrect on the ADA. Unpaid leave is considered a reasonable accommodation under the ADA (and...

    Flight following frequency

My memory works in such a way that I'm very good at remembering frequencies that I'm likely to get on routes I fly a lot. I will dial up every frequency with 95% accuracy between MYF and CMA, and all the way up to coast to MRY if I really think about it. Same with MYF to AUN. I'm an outlier...

Plane crash Gillespie Field, San Diego

MYF has plenty of maintenance and avionics. At least 5 shops, including multiple avionics repair stations. SEE's benefits are limited to cheap parking, more frequent options to get in safely VFR and the County usually being better about doing business with the little guy and not having made...

Plane crash Gillespie Field, San Diego

There is absolutely no possible way an ILS can or will be installed at SEE, and I don't think the airport can ever meet TERPS for an LPV SEE isn't, MYF is. MYF tower is in line to be upgraded to a level higher than even SAN, which relies on the passenger metric to keep its level.

That's actually false. An unpaid leave can and frequently is considered a reasonable accommodation under the ADA and analogous state laws. FMLA and analogous state job protected leave is similarly unpaid.

Eh, no one is going to win an argument that a vaccination is so essential to rise to failing to accommodate an actual disability. Plus, they could ultimately accommodate by scheduling in a manner consistent with countries that allow for such accommodations. However, given how rare there are...

Plane crash Gillespie Field, San Diego

Based on published figures, it would be close to, but not at 40%. Of course, the airplane likely wasn't at MLW either, and who knows how wet it actually was, but it was probably a lot better idea than a low visibility circle to 27R.

As of October, United had 232 TOTAL employees who faced termination over refusal to do the right thing. There definitely aren't 2000 pilots there who have done this. If the argument is medical in nature, they have a better argument. If it is one of these fake religious objections, probably...

Plane crash Gillespie Field, San Diego

27R has a 4.5 degree PAPI, so it isn't like that is an easier deal - even with a little bit of extra length. I'm sure the reason he didn't use 17 is perception of length, even though the airplane had plenty of margin. The TEB crash was a far safer set of circumstances that was f'ed up by the...
