I'm not sure that is true at all. If you go faster for the same fuel consumption, especially in today's fuel price environment, you'll easily eat up any difference in MX costs. I own a retract and a fixed and the MX costs are not appreciably different, and the retract has 2 more cylinders.

Understandably, LSA pilots would also be more cautious when flying in marginal conditions. But I agree that there is no reason to not work on those skills just in case the worst happens. An RV10 is definitely not an LSA and certainly a great IFR platform as well.

Looks like the guy it was registered to recently sold it and wasn't on board. I wish people would just get their instrument ratings and fly IFR more.

I don't think it's funny to use Guard as a political platform to harass others. I never once used Guard to express my actually legitimate displeasure with the previous guy, so why should a bunch of so called professionals be using it to continue an unfunny meme?

I don't disagree with that point at all, but I'm speaking as if the person is deciding to save short term and spend later. The 275 has major advantages over the G5 if you want to keep a working KFC or something of the sort.

If you have a legacy autopilot, definitely go for the 275. It will ultimately save money.

Ditch the 172 training and train in a Cherokee, as others have said. Much more similar flying dynamics.
