    Students are "Learners" now...........

...............And, evidently, this has been going on for a few years. Why does the FAA continue to change the name or acronym for something EVERY day it seems? There must be an office of "maintaining confusion" in the FAA. They sure are good at it!

    Crosswind landing no-flap taildragger

I don't get it. I flew all sorts of "taildraggers" all my life. What is the difference between a "side" slip and a "forward" slip? A slip is a slip!!

What do you use to deice your plane

It used to be a Part 135 rule that you could wipe the frost smooth and depart...........and we often did in the King Air. But I always factored in about 10 knots of extra speed before I left the ground. Later, they changed that rule.

    Holding the Brakes

I don't know why you abuse your airplanes, but idling at 1200 RPM and dragging your brakes is stupid. It would help if you had some dual from a knowledgeable instructor.

    Holding the Brakes

It is ridiculous to idle at 1200 RPM. I have thousands of hours flying piston engines, mostly on floats. If you idle a float plane at 1200 RPM you destroy the prop. Idle at idle!

    Holding the Brakes

Why are you idling @ 1000 RPM?

    Grove Field.....Camas WA

There is a recent thread here on Grove......rather than hijacking that thread, here is my recollection. Old man "Grove" was a mechanic............forever. He did it all, engines, fabric, complete rebuilds, and overhauls. Trouble was, after he died the FAA found out he NEVER HAD a mechanics...
