    Trio vs TruTrak

I'll be happy to give a pirep once I get mine installed. My avionics guy has said my E5 is supposed to be delivered before Christmas. I already have a TruTrak installed in my Cardinal. However, it might be until mid January or later until the shop is able to start work on installing the Aspen...

    Trio vs TruTrak

Hopefully the much rumored and talked about translation from VLOC to GPSS will happen with the new Aspens. Pure rumor and speculation at this point, but I have heard discussions that both Aspen and TruTrak have discussed this, and could theoretically make it happen. But who knows if and/or...

    Aspen E5 availability?

Did he tell you why it needed an IFR GPS source? I have an IFD540, so I guess I'll have that, but I thought that was only if you wanted to have the CDI/DG display information from the GPS. Also, I figured the external GPS was so the Aspen could do GPSS to an autopilot.

    Aspen E5 availability?

Just got a text from my avionics shop... He received shipping notifications that my E5 should be delivered before Christmas! Now, its a matter of finding schedule to get the airplane there, and for his schedule to get cleared enough to get it installed :-) Im surprised that Apsen hasn't...

    Trio vs TruTrak

Yeah, it would be nice if the altitude your dialing in would just STAY and not fluctuate as your airplane bounced around. Its hard to chase a number in a bumpy cockpit when its bouncing around 10 feet or so. Sometimes it bounces so fast that its faster than the scree refresh rate, and the last...

    Aspen E5 availability?

This just hit the news circuits today: https://aspenavionics.com/news/aspens-evolution-e5-electronic-flight-instrument-efi-receives-stc Looks like they FINALLY wrapped up their STC testing, and with any luck we'll start seeing shipments headed out. I reserved mine back with the shop a soon as...

    Trio vs TruTrak

hah! indeed, I was using course, but Track is probably the more technically correct term, since a "course" denotes having an end point. The Baro sync is the only thing I really don't like about TruTrak, and its a small thing. And something that will be fixed with Aspen/G5 integration. I...

    Trio vs TruTrak

TruTrak needs a digital only source of steering. So, GPS is all thats currently supported. You'll need a GPS that can output on serial or using ARINC to feed the TruTrak. The unit by itself can follow course. The unit by itself will not follow a heading, it is ONLY course. As we all know...

    Cockpit Cosmetics

We have an ILS at a non-towered field just south of my home airport. It also has a NDB that you can use (if you still have an ADF of course) to help get lined up. I am not IFR, but I do like tuning in the ILS when I go visit them. The airport is KDNN in North Georgia...

    Trio vs TruTrak

Wonder why they have it listed on their website as being approved: https://trutrakflightsystems.com/pages/current-stc-approval-list But, there is no install documentation for the PA-32.
