    Audio panel and Comm 2

Com radios are one trick animals, and they all do that trick well. I'd say get a slide in replacement and call it a day. If you are looking for a Nav/Com or a GPS/Com there are many other factors. We all know the 3 most expensive words in airplane ownership are "might as well", or it's...

    They are truly blessed.

Charged With DUI When I Wasn’t Driving

Statistics like this are entertaining. So 6 hours of sleep a day makes you a .1%? That's pretty normal me thinks.

Charged With DUI When I Wasn’t Driving

About all the ones who crash are detected. So the undetected are not crashing therefore lowering the rate (by a lot more than we think?). Not sure what that does to the argument though. Clearly it's bad and no one should drive drunk, but a lot of the statistics seem to be a mess.

Are there pilots who've never used paper maps?

Why? What's the point of learning paper and passing the checkride and then switching to EFB. It seems that a 41'ish hour pilot is not the best candidate to self-teach a whole new nav approach. Wouldn't it be better to train like you're going to fly in the real world. And the "what if you lose...

Are there pilots who've never used paper maps?

I asked my son who's a new pilot, and no, his total experience with paper charts is helping wrap Christmas presents with them. And a bad scan of one on his written. It kinda shocked me a bit I admit, but I do feel very strongly about the idea of training how you'll fly. ...and I haven't used...

How often do you fly with a CFI or instructor..

Usually about 3. I do a FR every spring and an IPC every fall. And another to knock out a wings level. Just because, and my insurance company likes me. Lately I've had some time and have been expanding my flight envelope. This year I got my ASES and ME and am working on a helicopter add-on...

Yet another I hate modern cars rant

You can unlock it with an app in most cases. My list of things I like about modern tech is much larger than the list of annoyances.

Yet another I hate modern cars rant

The thing I hate most is the auto-stall. Pull up to a light and it stalls. Can be disabled for a trip, but not permanently. Sux.

ATC and Tower Too busy to conduct training due to staffing issues

It happens here @ KJYO sometimes, but not often. When it does, it's clearly too busy. On my last flight the controller was doing an amazing job talking to 12 planes...without radar.

How Many Planes Do You Have

2.5 A Grumman AA1A for affordable fun and time building for my spawn. A Seneca 3 for traveling. And a partially built Zenith CH750 STOL. Which reminds me...I need to pick up the pace.

    Pilot Career Question

Ditto on fly some before dropping big bucks. The "pro pilot" programs get you there with all the ratings quick for $$$. With the importance of seniority numbers this might be a good idea....But. Get your PP, then if you like it, go big. I just bought 120 hours of helicopter time at half...

    Partnership spreadsheet

I've had 2 planes in an equity partnership, one in a non-equity partnership, and 2 just for me. My thoughts: Get a partnership specific checking account just for the plane. For financials, all I've tracked is income, fixed costs, maintenance, and upgrades. Everything but fuel. I always just...
