    C150 or C152

More yes, significant probably not. It’s not just about TBO, it’s about idle time. 5 more years of idle time is a lot. 2 more is a lot too but a little less of a gamble than 5. At 12 years or 1800/2000 hours the engine is worth core value. At 11 years slightly more and on and on. Same reason you...

    C150 or C152

I put 800 hours on my 150 in a year so it’s doable. I was doing oil changes every 2-3 weeks.

    C150 or C152

Well one is within TBO one is not. A lot of corrosion can happen in 5 years. Granted it also depends on how the hours are spread out. All else being equal I would pay several thousand more for the one with a 10 year old 600 hour engine.

Help me find a used truck

I like cargurus because it tries to determine if the price is fair based on similar listings. It’s not perfect but usually pretty accurate. Which site you prefer depends on how picky you are about the options on the vehicle. Some sites provide better filters for the specific options.

Help me find a used truck

Sounds like you know what you want so just go on Autotrader, Cargurus and find one close by.

    C150 or C152

I wouldn’t say it’s meaningless. It is a pricing tool. A 600 hour engine that is 10 years old has much more value than a 600 hour engine that is 15 years old within reason. Obviously if one has been in Florida and the other Nevada that’s a different situation. After 12 years they are both core...

    C150 or C152

fyi there are two parts to TBO, year and hours. Quoting one without the other is pointless and in reality the year is far more important than the hours. So much so that If you flew a new lycoming 2399 hours in 2 years and 11 months it would still be under warranty. 2399 in over 3 years would...

    C150 or C152

No mention of how old the engines are which would play far more into determining value than hours. There are no significant differences in the function of the two. 152 has more power but more weight. Personally I would choose the cheaper of the two provided it is in good shape and spend the...

City of Portage trying to close AIrport C47

If it's been "proposed" it means it's pretty much a done deal as long as there are no legal interventions. Someone has most likely already offered to purchase the land for development or industrial use for a price that most likely far exceeds any revenue the airport generates. Without...

    Continental 0-200A issues?

Well it’s a 17 year old engine so even being a Continental it could be subject to corrosion issues. The only real weak spot in my opinion are the valves. Not hard to address but they will need the occasional lapping and cleaning to keep the compressions up.

    Oil burn...What are your numbers?

Mine seems to vary but here lately about a quart every 10-15 hours on my 550. Turbulence makes it worse since my engine has such a shallow sump.

    How often do you fly?

With current gas prices only 4-8 hours a month.

    Cessna 150 Aerobat

A regular 150 in decent hands will do the same maneuver as long as nobody sees you. ;)

Well then I hope he gets sued and losses everything for being financially irresponsible. haha

    Cessna 150 Aerobat

As others have said, for that money you can buy a really nice Citabria and they are just better airplanes all around. The aerobat doesn't handle any different than a standard 150 and I can't imagine that aerobatics in it would be all that fun. For that price you could buy a decent standard 150...

OSH - AIRCRAFT DOWN SOUTH OF ULTRALIGHT AREA

idk I'm not an insurance agent. Point is if you can afford a 100k toy you probably aren't living paycheck to paycheck so there should be money somewhere to supplement the Mooney's insurance gap. I did, it's a general statement of how these lawsuits usually go.

OSH - AIRCRAFT DOWN SOUTH OF ULTRALIGHT AREA

Budd Davisson who is the highest time most renowned Pitts pilot in the world said he pays nearly 5k for insurance on a 65k Pitts S-2A. Isn't the saying if a business doesn't make a profit it's a hobby..

OSH - AIRCRAFT DOWN SOUTH OF ULTRALIGHT AREA

I agree every circumstance is different. From what I can tell that was a 100k gyro so I'd have to imagine there is enough money there to cover the gap in insurance coverage. I am not against him going after that money. It's the people that tack on "emotional damages" in an attempt to...

    I’m calling the peak

It's like buying a used car from Carmax or a used car lot. They are the same car, they probably did the same research on it, maybe even came from the same auctions. What you get for your money at Carmax is the sales experience and after sales support. Carmax says you can return a car for any...

OSH - AIRCRAFT DOWN SOUTH OF ULTRALIGHT AREA

I didn't want to rile up the alternate engine faithful but I was thinking the same thing. You have the highest risk airplanes at the show flying non stop over the most occupied grounds. Same goes for the helicopter rides as well though. Regardless Pioneer field is a good fit even if it...
