Three Approaches in IFR/LIFR, Visionjet Demo. LIFL returns!

GREAT question. First, as a general matter, I find math in the cockpit difficult. Am I the only one? Simple stuff that I can do in my sleep on the ground becomes a struggle when Im flying solo IFR in IMC. Second, your approach is exactly correct and I confess I hadn't thought of that! In other...

    IFR or VFR?

Sorry you feel that way. Truly! I actually thought that this was an interesting topic for discussion and that the video was salient to that. To be honest, the video is entirely secondary as I framed the discussion in the paragraph before the video. The point is raised and discussion can ensue...

    IFR or VFR?

For those of you flying uber high performance planes, do you ever fly VFR? In my Meridian I was taught basically to always fly with a clearance. Yet, and especially when flying in the NE, I've found that it is better all around sometimes to go VFR with advisories to be able to stay higher...

    Fastlane is BACK!!

I had to fly the same route last week and I filed VFR to the south out of IAD and then picked up an IFR plan from an intersection just south of the SFRA to go to MQI. Apparently this is a real issue for GA trying to get south of IAD. You're bride sounds awesome! That she is interested and...

    Life in the FL returns!

I'm so used to calling my channel 'Life in the FL' (a combination of the Eagles' Life in the Fast Lane with the 'FL' representing Flight Level) that it took me until now to realize why you all expected something about Florida! For what it is worth, here's a Life in the FL in FL.

Demo of Garmin Autoland, SOLID IMC and black hole approaches.

Easy trigger! I DID activate the autoland and I gave you the timecode for it, and it shows it being activated and bringing the airplane to a near full stop landing on rwy 09 at KSWF. Yes, I'm always thinking about getting an M600...not in the cards at the moment, unfortunately.

    IAD Tonight

Amazing! My first ride in a GA plane was in a Grumman Tiger based at DCA! Parked right out in the ramp. And then, 15y later I got my PPL at IAD in 1993. You couldn't do touch and goes there, but 19L/1R was a routine. Sigh... the good ole days.
