    Fall foliage flights

Just flew from Louisville KY to the Tulsa area yesterday. Still green along the southern MO border and looking down around Table Rock Lake but it shouldn't be too much longer...maybe three weeks...it will be great. I am usually 30K over that area and down at 6000 feet in my plane I was struck...

American Made - Tom Cruise new movie

Just got back from seeing it. Flying scenes were pretty good as a whole. Sarah Wright who played his wife is sure sweet on the eyes.

    Crossing the Atlantic...

I will be crossing in about 12 hours and I heard a 172 out there before. You must remember that you will have to have survival suits for everyone on over water or and rafts etc. With a family? AA, Delta, United or one of many foreign carriers.

It's Final...We're Moving from CA to TX!

Oct - Dec is fine unless there are cold fronts, then it will pass within a short time. Getting along here is very easy. Be nice, be honest, don't say "we did it this way in CA" we tend to eat meat, chicken fried steak, and just about anything else fried. Seriously though, we are not backward...

You want HP? How about a 5000 HP Radial.

Mount that thing on just about about anything and you have a dynasty at Reno.

    Hangar vs Tie Down

In the Austin Texas/Central Texas area, hangars are a very rare commodity. I was fortunate enough to get into a T Hangar at GTU from a private company that has since "sold" the hangars to the city. I use the hangar to for the plane and a lot of my tools/equipment and work on my plane there. I...

    Thunderstorms at night are "fun".

How do you eat a cake? One bite at a time. You're relatively new in your aircraft as you stated but you didn't say your overall experience. You learned some things on this flight which is causing you to "learn" some more which will help you in the future. Like has been said many times over...

    Is Texas GA friendly?

Wow! (TIC) that is NOT my recollection of the ten plus years I spent there. Incredibly hot and humid and windy in the summer - why is the Severe Storm Laboratory there? Winters? Snow, Ice, windy. Property taxes are low and the roads show it. Income tax is very high. I would pay almost a...

    Is Texas GA friendly?

For your wife....humidity is a fact of life...how do we handle it? Simple, turn the A/C colder and stay inside. We have windows in our house that have not been opened in twenty years. My wife has a lot of health problems and the heat really zaps her. Me, I grew up without AC so I can handle...

    Is Texas GA friendly?

I am based at KGTU and it is a great airport. Austin is beyond weird. Trying to make it illegal to walk and text. How far out of town? Still working and need to commute into Austin? Austin is a 3 lane city with 5 to 6 lane traffic. It is horrendous and mainly due to the hippies of the 60's...
