    Twin Cessna insurance question

I would think you’d be good to go with previous time in type. Mine is a 310 and not far off in hull value. Mine only required 25 in type with 5 dual for insurance using Avemco. They also gave me credit for recurrent training in the jet I fly for a living. They didn’t require recurrent training...

Challenger Jet down in Truckee CA 7/26/21

With the winds you posted above, that would be greater than a 10 knot tailwind. The 605 and most jets have a 10 knot tailwind limitation. The straight in to 11 would have exceeded that limitation. You have to include the gust. There’s a lot of terrain, GA and glider activity at TRK. Maybe one of...

Adding SCFI to CFI ticket, revisit FOI?

I believe there is a table in the CFI PTS that tells you what subjects to cover for existing CFI’s and add on CFI ratings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    SR22 or Seneca II?

I flew my 310 about 60 hours last year. This year, it’s been down so much waiting on parts for minor MTX items and the freedom in my work schedule to do the work myself. I may be at 10 hours for the year. I’ll be lucky to do 40 hours this year. I do fly for a living which helps, but it’s not...

Anyone ever use a Ground-controlled Approach?

I graduated Rucker ATC in 1994. We were taught radar, ASR, nonradar and PAR. I went on to work Troy GCA where we did plenty of GCA (PAR/ASR) radar approaches. Mostly every military radar facility will do a PAR and ASR approach. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Electronic Logbook (2021 info)

I use LogTen Pro. It does everything you need. CFI signatures, iCloud back ups, etc. I even had mine printed up and put in a nice binder for an airline interview. Tons of options with LogTen Pro. I’ve been using it for over 10 years. The only caveat is that it’s for IOS devices only. Sent...

Buying Seneca iii, lower time pilot. Insurance cost?

The insurance is usually quoted to the least qualified or largest risk. Even with the two ATP CFI’s on your insurance it will still be high because you’re the biggest risk. You may want to call for an insurance quote while you can and still get your deposit back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Piper Seneca iii Prop Deice INopt, airworthy or not? IA's and A/P's?

I believe a simple visit to the FSDO with the MMEL in hand would generate the LOA to use the MMEL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This will convince you to buy a twin

I’m at 22gph for 178 KIAS. I can go 183 KIAS for 25-26 gph. Doesn’t really seem worth it. I compare my performance to another 6 seat retract, not a 172 or Cherokee. My buddy had a Saratoga and did 150 Kias on 18-19gph. I’m definitely not double as a twin. I go faster, 1700lb Useful load...

This will convince you to buy a twin

The expenses of owning a twin are not double like a lot of people think. It’s actually quite manageable. At least in my experience it has been. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do I claim PTSD to the VA

Retired military officer here and have been through the VA system. Like someone else has already posted, if you claim it in the VA system and it’s a diagnosis you think you have, then youre entitled to claim it. The VA medical process will have you seeing doctors that will or will not diagnose...
