Getting forced into a hurry or rush is when things are skipped, checklist or not in GA. Take a deep breath and slow down. Reading the chk list isn’t the same as doing the chk list.

The seat sliding back and recovery could be a statistical enigma. There’s no form w/a check box and no one wants to walk into the FBO bragging they recovered from the seat sliding back, because the didn’t check it on pre-flight. Generally the only ones we hear about are the ones that end poorly.

Just a thought, Gastons is about 30 miles by air from BBG (Branson, Mo) and there are literally 1,000's of rooms there, and this is basically the off-season for them.

In that situation you must make best use of whatever time you might have.
