    Mice - not nice

Wire a 40 Watt light bulb in series with any electric trap. That's still a lot more current than they can withstand yet will prevent a fire risk in case of an electric malfunction.

Slick Magneto 6314 failure at 700hrs

It is possible that the valve timing is messed up on your engine depending on the original assembler's attention to detail. I diagnosed one on the AOPA forum many years ago. And I had a Pinto (a new car then) that was factory assembled off by one timing belt tooth. Just don't ask me what...

    Clearing fouled plugs

I Put 1700 hrs on a new 172M over 35 years using 80/87 (when it was available) then MoGas. Never even had a rough mag.

    Piper Arrow, apparently "priceless"

Maybe she's trying to find a barefoot pilgrim for her 40 year old Florida airplane? This market is crazy!

Another "Out of Annual" out-of-body, experience

Maybe a left hand thread too?

Another "Out of Annual" out-of-body, experience

Those heated pitot tube mounting threads being 6-40? I have never heard of any application using 6-40 threads. Check again, and see if maybe they are 6-32 screws.

See through carburetor and high speed camera

Multiple carbs (1/cylinder) are common because they allow extra-short intake manifolds. Common in motorcycles. Short intake manifolds minimize mixture starve-out on rapid opening of the throttle, and reduce or eliminate the need for an accelerator pump. Aircraft engines having long intake...

    ELT "G Test"

The Artex and other instructions for whatever tests may be specified are woefully inconsistent in their specifications. The specs are given in G's (with the wrong units label too) which is not a critical variable. Maybe they mean 4.6 ft/sec which would be a velocity change term? Because 4.6...

    Carrier only, no voice

Amazing diagnostics - especially for an electronics problem!:):)

    Cherokee 140 Intermittent Partial Power

Don't discount the failed muffler baffle so quickly. Depending on how it fails, it can effectively block the exhaust port enough to throttle or even kill the engine. The only thing is it would be unusual might be that there was more than one such event that was similar. The same can be said...

What Is The Lowest AGL You Will Slip Prior To Landing

Some of the Cessna 172s that had the 40 deg flap capability supposedly had a tendency to pitch forward under heavy slip inputs. I was vaguely aware of that, but never found it in 30 years of flying our 172M. Close to the runway, yes - but not too close just in case.

    Cherokee 140 Intermittent Partial Power

Also check the muffler visually from up the exhaust pipe. Do it with a flashlight in a darker area so you can see the baffles inside.

Early wide body 182 shimmy dampener options?

What's needed is a slightly oversize and probably also slightly oblong bushing replacement for the shimmy damper-fuselage interface. PMA'd and STC'd of course:rolleyes:

Why are these planes still using toxic fuel?

Earth-wise, ships are a major source of CO2, not so much of CO.

The FAA was right, this time. This ONE time.

Pfizer (2) age 82 - no reaction. Maybe they accidently gave me the placebos?

    Lube differences

Permatex number 2 at the aviation parts dept of your local NAPA auto parts store is functionally similar, although it is not sold as a lubricant. Like Fuel lube, you don't want to get any loose stuff into your fuel system.

    O-470L fuel on carb body

Humid day. Carb ice is messing with your idle mixture.

Non-aviation - automotive light fixture gasket ideas

Glue the weather stripping back in position butting the ends together. After everything has set, smear a small amount of silicon grease (or similar) on the mating surface so there is a definite parting point if it is ever disassembled again. That's what the factory omitted. Saved them maybe 1...

Corrosion 1 week after top OH?

Where with respect to the engine axis are these marks happening? Can you get a finger through a sparkplug hole and feel if there is any detectable corrosion? My guess it you won't feel any. It is almost like it didn't clean up from honing except the clear, which is obviously from a ring area...

    Cracked aluminum cowling

...An ABS tailcone needs an injection mold. I think most ABS stuff in airplanes is made from raw ABS sheet material and vacuum or stretch bagged over a wood form. It only needs a kitchen oven to soften and a couple of guys with gloves to do the forming.
