    Opinions on planned avionics upgrades/changes

Mark, I don't think you included the correct link... it's broken when I click on it. This may be what you meant to put up... https://www.ps-engineering.com/assets/img/Compare.jpg Also, your site lists the PMA8000BT at $1795. Are you offering us a deal right now? ;)

NA - Hot tub repair.. what resin?

West responded and recommended their G/flex-650 resin, for better adhesion and flexibility in a thin layer, although they didn't address my questions re/ spa heat and bromine. Perhaps I'm overthinking that?

    Welcome new Management Council

Hehehehe... the first time I read that, I thought you meant you were relieved that they were gone. My bad. MC, previous and current, thanks for your help making this a great resource.

NA - Hot tub repair.. what resin?

The only resins I've used so far have been West and TotalBoat. Both have given great results, with TotalBoat stuff being more budget friendly. The only times I've had frustratingly long total cure times, meaning sometimes as long as a day or two, have been when doing very thin painted-on coats...

    Opinions on planned avionics upgrades/changes

I've been curious about this. If a plane already has an installed 12v socket (used to be called a "cigar lighter"), what would be the advantage of installing usb ports over just using a high quality 12v-to-usb adapter? Does it have to do w/ dotting the Ts and crossing the Is of regulations...

How NOT to tie down your aircraft

Still not sure if we're having slightly silly fun or discussing this for real, but what the heck... it's early and I've got a nice cup of hot coffee by my side.. When you tie something down from the wind, it's best to "guy out" the lines, rather than have the lines lead vertically to the...

Two more pics, in case they're of any use. One shows a piece of the shell, the other a ground out area. Thanks again for the ideas...

How NOT to tie down your aircraft

Well, the difference being that the gas is in the wings, which are held off the ground by a round thing meant to roll and reduce friction with the ground (a cool invention from a couple years ago called a "wheel"). The concrete block is on the ground, creating lots of friction, and no wheel to...

NA - Hot tub repair.. what resin?

Thank you, everyone! Points regarding adhesion, impermeability to water, and susceptibility to UV damage taken and understood. What about resistance to damage from bromine? Any specific issues with 105 deg F heated water?

NA - Hot tub repair.. what resin?

I'm really not sure. Most high end spas are acrylic now, but this one is circa 1984. It's a solid glossy brown in color (no swirls or metallic flake like you see in most modern tubs), and the color is through most of the layup. The layup is about 1/16" thick, over a rigid stranded...

Recommendations for studying for IFR and beyond ground school?

I've got the Sporty's instrument course. The written test prep drills are good, but there's lots of free or less expensive sites that do that well. To be honest, I can't stand the videos...I find THEM inefficient. I can read a lot faster than someone can talk, and all of the intros and splash...
