I paid right at the top of your range for a 2004 RV-9A with extended range tanks, a GTN-650, autopilot, and IFR panel. I plan 155kts true at 8.5gph. It takes me, the wife and all the baggage we need. As others have pointed out, the big thing you'll be missing is FIKI.

Aw, come on! I got my IR in my RV-9A, and fly in IMC all the time. Yes, it’s harder than a 172, but definitely doable. I’m no Bob Hoover. My wife loves the bubble canopy (and the sliding canopy shade). I’d have to agree. An RV checks a lot of boxes.

Talked to the local mechanic who was called to go pick up the plane and bring it back to KLXT. Nothing wrong with the plane at all. Everyone involved thinks the pilot may have tried to go around and only advanced one throttle, then freaked out with the yaw.

Just listed an RV-10 for a friend on Barnstormers at $209K...sold within a week. If you have a desirable plane, there is someone who will buy it. I don't see that changing any time soon.

Agreed. And that’s usually what I do. It was confusing at Point Lookout because there were a few airports in the area with the same UNICOM, and it took me a while to figure out they weren’t at a different airport.
