    Contract Pilot Compensation

I definitely am. However, I still have bills to pay. Like I said, I'm not expecting top pay - or anything close to it - I just don't want to undercut the market and hurt other pilots, and I have to keep the rent paid.

    Contract Pilot Compensation

I've known my boss since I started working on my primary 5 years ago. Always helped him out in the hangar, walked his wing on the tug, etc. In the meantime, I developed a really solid reputation as a safe pilot and a good stick and rudder man. I got my 2 year degree (still working on 4 year)...

    Contract Pilot Compensation

You can probably log the time SIC. The Citation I'm flying is single pilot certified - if the pilot has the single pilot certification. I'd check on that.

    Contract Pilot Compensation

Yeah, I understand that. That's why I'm putting my name out for basically anything cabin twin or turbine, both PIC and SIC. Yeah, I'm going for SIC stuff until my total time gets up higher. Nope, I landed the "Unicorn" job as its been described. PIC in a Citation 501 at 350 total time.

    Contract Pilot Compensation

I wasn't quite sure where to post this, so if there is a better subforum please let me know. I think there should be a subforum for professional aviation. Not people working on their commercial or thinking about getting into it - but for people actively flying professionally, or qualified...

    Training Update...

So, a few months ago I was on here talking about my impending CFI ride (that I passed) and trying to figure out how to get students. I haven't been on since then, because I haven't been doing much flying. However, I've been in Dallas since last Monday because I've been working on my Citation...

    Rotary Wing Add-On?

So, I'm a CFI and I recently interviewed at an airport and learned that they have a Robinson R-44 and do helicopter training. I've been reading online and I keep seeing programs to take private pilots to private helicopter pilots, and ones for commercial pilots wanting to become commercial...

    Thoughts On My Resume?

I applied for a CFI job using this resume today. However, I'd like some more opinions if I don't get this job and have to apply elsewhere. I wasn't entirely sure if this was the best place to post this topic, so feel free to move/delete it if necessary. ---- First Page ---- 3-23-2013 Mr...

I Don't Want to Step on Any Toes...

I snagged all the syllabi from the university I went to ;) As if they don't already let me. I prefer Part 61 training due to its flexibility, but I knew going in that I would need something that breaks it down into blocks so I don't overload students. I grew up flying with my dad, so I went...

I Don't Want to Step on Any Toes...

Most of them don't want to work around my university schedule. They want someone there from 10AM-5PM every day. Conveniently, this isn't my first rodeo with business. This will be the third business venture for me if I do it, so I'm very familiar with local business laws :) I'm still...

I Don't Want to Step on Any Toes...

Solid point. Very solid point. I've looked into that and the airports around me differentiate from a guy giving BFR's and a flight school. If I had a plane based there, the ones around me charge by percentage

I Don't Want to Step on Any Toes...

Buying one or trying to become the king of BFR's for people who already have planes

I Don't Want to Step on Any Toes...

Addition: I have also considered buying a Cherokee 180 or something and continuing to live with my parents while I undercut everyone in the area.

I Don't Want to Step on Any Toes...

So, I'm a freelance CFI and I'm going to get my CFII next month. I'm not entirely sure if it is possible to freelance without stepping on any toes at the local FBO's. Should I stop caring about that? Is there a way to freelance - to put myself out there - without ticking anyone off? And...

    Distracted and under pressure

I accidentally dropped the F bomb on the unicom just after getting my license. I was on a deadline - trying to get my friend to a job interview in the neighboring state. I was running up and it kept failing the mag check. My friend in a Comanche taxied by and said, "Having some issues there?"...

Stop training to wait for medical?

I also had issues getting my medical, and I soloed at 33 hours. It actually put an end to the "10 hour solo" push that a lot of CFI's in the area tried to do. My CFI said it was the most relaxing student solo he'd ever done. We didn't even fly together that day. I got my medical in the mail...

    CFII or MEI...

That sounds like a GREAT idea! It would also satisfy rental checkout requirements. Time to get to work!

    CFII or MEI...

Valid points. I could get the 15 of multi PIC pretty easily, but I do not currently. I don't know about the signoff. I don't recall there being anything about the IFR portion of the checkride mentioned in my multi ride endorsement, so I'd imagine so. The FAR's state that a non CFII is...

    CFII or MEI...

I'm pretty sure this topic works in this forum, feel free to move if it I'm wrong. I got my CFI last month and with my situation as a freelancer, it's become clear that I need to get either my CFII or my MEI, but I'm not sure which one to get (both isn't financially an option until I find some...

    Keep me from dying

I just can't quite understand this from a psychological standpoint. If you're intensely aware of the behavior, why can't you change it? That sounds like something you'd need (potentially medical jeopardizing) professional help with. But that's the problem with aviation: sometimes the FAA's...
