    Gyroplane on the brain

I've never looked into them much, but they seem really cool. The ones I have come across were way more expensive than I anticipated them being.

    Fuel system outage

An email from QT today: "While we have not been given a definitive ETA for having this issue resolved, we are making significant progress and my best estimate at this point is that services will be restored within the next 24 hours. While we still have not determined the source of the issue, I...

    Fuel system outage

Our airport actually just upgraded the M4000 platform about a month ago. I found this posted on Reddit, not sure if the issue has been resolved yet or not: "Dear Valued Customers, I will continue to update you regularly on the outage we are currently experiencing on our M4000 platform. At...

Best glide with windmilling prop or stopped prop

I was going over some Bonanza training yesterday and in the video they mentioned that topic and just said something like there was no statistical basis for it that they could find. I personally do agree with the idea of not messing with too much while in a critical phase of flight though...

Best glide with windmilling prop or stopped prop

So glad that everything ended up as well as it could, nice job! I'm a fairly new owner of a V35 and one of the first things I did was to fly some glide profiles, but these were with the engine running and the prop windmilling. I bet there will be a good bit of difference if the prop is stopped...

    Unusual weekend experience.

The American Standard tank that failed was apparently only 3 years old, while the ones we have are stamped 2012. I joked with my wife that may have to preemptively replace the toilet tanks every three years now as a precaution, as I have exploding toilet tank PTSD.

    Unusual weekend experience.

From the lawsuit, the technical reason for the failure: "...the tanks were either fired too rapidly or allowed to cool down too quickly or in an uneven fashion. This flaw in manufacturing caused residual stresses to be formed in the ceramic materials. These stresses are concentrated around...

    Unusual weekend experience.

On Saturday morning at 5:45AM everyone in the house was fast asleep. Suddenly there was a loud pop and then the sound of water. Wife gets up first and goes into the master bath, starts calling my name frantically. I'm out of it, but head into the bathroom to see the floor covered in water, with...

    Olathe, KS plane crash 31Dec2019

From Reddit: "This guy landed right before me and was there to look at buying a new M600 from the Piper dealer there. Multiple eye witness reports from pilots I trust say that the airplane nosed straight up in the air right after takeoff, stalled, then pretty much nosedived into the ground."

    150 knots for $150k

I'm not sure how other people travel with their planes with the minimal luggage area that a lot of them seem to have. I think my Bonanza has 35 cu feet and even with just a family of three, we pretty much fill it up. Maybe I just need a wife who packs less. I imagine flying with just two in a...

Buying and Resale of Cessna 150 to Build Time Help

There were definitely some variables that leaned toward ownership in my particular situation. There were no rentals close to me, so I would have had to drive 45 minutes to rent, while I lived only 5 minutes from the local airport where I kept the 152. I also had an A&P on the field who was super...

Buying and Resale of Cessna 150 to Build Time Help

I want to say it was ~ 70% to TBO when I sold it, but I'd have to scrounge up the paperwork. Not positive. *Edit* Looked it up and I sold it at 80% to TBO.
