We're East of there and just started getting the rain bands. All of my wife's family live there though, some on the water, but they have all evacuated at this point, primarily to Texas.

How to best convey to ATC what I am flying.

I too routinely had problems with ATC when I owned the Sierra. I ended up just using "Beech" and my N number most of the time, and then would give them BE24 when they asked for type. I wonder if part of the problem stems from "Sierra" being part of the phonetic alphabet.

    FB **** Show!

Using the Internet early on, I felt so excited about the possibilities and I really thought that technology was going to equalize and free the world, now I feel like we should burn it all to the ground. 3D Printed Pilot Accessories

A guy on Beechtalk uploaded a 3d file for a yoke mounted keyboard holder for the Avidyne keyboard. I had it printed in alumide and it works great. *Edit* Replaced with a better image of the holder. Something that fits into a hamburger hole and can hold batteries or cables or pencils or a phone?

Transition from Garmin GNS 530W to Avidyne IFD 540

I didn't transition from a 530, but the app is a great way to poke around with things, and the book is pretty good too. I made a copy of the quick reference section at the back of the book and put it on my phone/tablet for reference in the plane. IFD 100 app. IFD Trainer app.

Tricks for IPad Viewing in the Sun

The previous versions of the iPad Mini that I have are practically unusable in my plane, I'm not sure how people are utilizing them. Awesome! My son asked me yesterday how old do you have to be to get a pilot's license, so maybe the spark is there.
