Sun n Fun 2022 - Who went / Is there??

This was my first time back since 2003. What a blast! I flew down from Ohio with a friend/student/aircraft owner and we had a great time. I think this will be a yearly event going forward!!

    CFI's - Logging in ForeFlight

Good point. I am a fulltime software guy and that makes total sense. Logging is not their core competency. ^This. I am huge on customer experience no matter what service I am providing. ^To my point above, I respectfully see it differently. As another person mentioned, I should be...

    CFI's - Logging in ForeFlight

Calling Fellow CFI's! Is anyone logging their students' flights in foreflight for them and signing digitally? I know it is possible and I have played with it a bit, but I am hoping for best practices. It seems that the student must enter the flight and then request your signature. Is there any...

    DIY Sim and FAA Certification

Hi Everyone, CFII here and fulltime IT professional (Software Engineering / Network & Systems Admin in previous role). I am interested in potentially building a custom ATD to my specifications. Has anyone done this and had success getting it FAA certified? If not, are there any ATD's that...

    Hypothetical Trainer: IFR Certified Tomahawk

All, I know not everyone is a fan of the Tomahawk, but I have several hundred hours in it and am a long time CFI. It comes at a good price point, and if the AD's are in check ... I think it could be a fun trainer for BOTH Primary and IFR. What I am thinking: Dual G5's and a Garmin 430. It...

    Credit card rewards for fuel

If an FBO did code it wrong, try calling your credit card company. I did this with marine fuel. My marina wasn't categorized as a fuel sale establishment, but with a quick website reference provided to BOA, they were happy to add that categorization and allow me to get the rewards!

    Owning and Flying Over TBO

Howdy! How many folks are doing this? I flew quite a bit with a friend in an Aerostar that did this for years. His mechanics were on top of everything, the oil was sent out twice yearly and the compression was checked on the same schedule. Never an issue. Of course, we know this means there is...

    Starting a small cargo company

Totally off topic, but funny! I am a big recreational boater also (1977 Silverton 31C). I was at Kelley's Island in Lake Erie and saw a boat named "Urn'ed it!" Nobody was willing to outwardly ask them but me. I said, "Hey! Are you a funeral director???" He replied in the affirmative. It turns...

    Starting a small cargo company

PM'ed you. Love the idea and would like to hear more. PM'ed you also. I am an MEI insurable to instruct if I bought a plane in that situation. Would also allow other, young MEI's without a day job to do it also so long as they were safe and affordably insurable. If you get the chance, let's...

    Starting a small cargo company

Here is another thought ... any ideas on getting a light twin to earn its keep? I fly a laptop fulltime, I can afford a twin - I just can't justify that kind of cost as a person who has been frugal his whole adult life. But I still want one. What stories do folks on here have to legally and...
