Something about you that not many here may know

Well, we definitely know to stay off your lawn... [emoji6]

    Logging time question.

Same here, I was just illustrating that it's legal.

    Logging time question.

I suppose my wording could have been a little better. You're right, logging 72 hours wouldn't work... only the flight time over the 3 days in my example.

    Logging time question.

Interestingly(?), you could've spent the night at each airport and logged the entire 3 day trip as one cross country flight.

    Logging time question.

You can log the whole thing as xc. By "airport closed" you mean the FBO building was locked, right? Not that there were Xs on the runway (or otherwise NOTAMd closed). Right?

    Nighttime actual: scrubbed mission

I agree with everyone else here. Maybe you would've made it just fine. Maybe there would've been an issue and you'd have to make even harder decisions further along. While it sometimes feels like "chickening out" to go to Plan B or turn around and head back from whence you came, it's always the...

Something about you that not many here may know

Nice! My wife and I are both Rescue Divers, threatening to go Divemaster next, but don't have the free time to do it on a reasonable timeline. So wondering if we should hold off until the schedule gets a little better around here... or if the idea of a better schedule is just a pipe dream and we...

Something about you that not many here may know

I'll play: I'm a pilot, scuba diver, ultra runner and I've been skydiving (once), but am very much NOT an adrenaline junky, despite always being accused otherwise. I failed my first two driving tests, but then went 22+ years without a citation. (I got pulled over 19 times in that stretch, but...

    Commercial - Long XC

Except that, as I've heard it, that last part means "sole human occupant"... since it seems fairly common that people flying animal rescues log the time as solo if the only occupants are the pilot and a dog, for example.

    Commercial - Long XC

Unfortunately, for your situation... Solo = no other humans aboard (animals are OK, though, if you do PNP flights, for example).

Training on IFR cold weather decision making?

I admit that my statement wasn't really aimed at aviation forecasts as much as the times the local weather forecasters tell us SNOWMAGEDDON is coming, so stock up on non perishable food items, because we don't know when it will end. And then we get a dusting of snow. I'm sure there's a good...

Training on IFR cold weather decision making?

I don't have a ton of experience in the clouds in winter, but I've been trying to learn the same thing(s) I think you are. So far, here's what I've come up with: 1. Forecast conditions and actual conditions aren't always the same. The forecast is a guess. Sometimes it seems like it was an...

How Close Did I Come To Killing Myself on Climbout

Nope, my 172N has 40 degrees of flaps. Or, had 40 degrees of flaps before we got the STC to increase max gross weight by limiting flaps to 30 degrees. The N model has flaps 40, there was no O model and the P model has flaps 30.

I do. Are you not seeing mine? It's there. (Though it only shows up on my phone in landscape mode.)
