Tesla Model 3 - Now I get the hype.

I've left my Model 3 at the airport for trips in September, December, February and April in Wisconsin (to give you an idea of outside temps). In September, the car was parked (and not plugged in) for 11 days. I lost 26 miles of range. (Parked it with 289, drove it away with 263). In December...

    accelerated CFII recommendation?

I don’t know what it is anymore, but when I was there in November of 2017, I think it was 80+%. Also, the cost for training includes any retraining required if a checkride is failed (I’m told you’d have to pay the examiner fee again but, luckily, I didn’t need to test that.) @mattg may have...

The "cheap" Tesla is finally out...

I asked that question when I picked up my car and the guy said “Keep the wiper fluid full.” In reality, they recommend tire rotations every 6500 miles and there’s a service visit every 2 years. But you can skip every other and still be covered under warranty. Brakes will last 100,000+ miles...

Never change, @EdFred. Never change. [emoji6]

The "cheap" Tesla is finally out...

I did the math once and I think recharging my iPhone 6S empty to full 16 times will cost me a mile of range. [emoji1787]

The "cheap" Tesla is finally out...

I’m headed back from a trip soon. My car has been parked outside in Milwaukee (but “turned off” while I was gone) and I’ve lost 8 miles of range in 7 days. I took a 10 day trip in September and didn’t turn the car off and lost about 40 miles of range while I was gone. You only have to plug in...

The "cheap" Tesla is finally out...

I bought my car based on what it did/had when I bought it. Still think it was worth every penny. When it gets better and doesn’t cost me any more money... even better! Also, I bought FSD when I got the car, so I’ll get a free AP3 hardware swap.

    accelerated CFII recommendation?

Yep, they’re definitely booked up. But maybe ask them if you can get on a waiting list in case someone cancels?

    accelerated CFII recommendation?

Are you looking for a CFII add-on or is this your initial? I went to Livingston Aviation in Waterloo, IA (KALO) for my initial CFI (Matt is there now @flyingcheesehead). It was a great experience and I think they have a 2 day add-on for CFII or a 10 day CFI/CFII program. I’m on the road now...

    CFI Liability Insurance

Peeeete - I went the school route. My availability is very part time (0-2 days per week) and I couldn't justify the insurance expense. Between them having airplanes, students and insurance coverage already in place, it was hard to beat the $0 upfront costs and ease of getting started.

    [N/A] Tesla turns a $312 mil profit in Q3

I'm not disputing that the other manufacturers *could* build a network of fast charging stations. The point is, they *haven't*. In fact, some have gone so far as to say they would not make any investments there. They're all waiting for someone else to do it, but nobody is. WRT updates, I think...

A challenging "How do I / Can I log this flight time?"

At the end of 61.51(e)(iv), the wording basically says "you can log it, provided the following criteria are met" and then lists those 4 criteria under A-D. C has two criteria that are "or"... so either C1 or C2 will suffice for that item. But the "and" at the end of C2 is the continuation of...

A challenging "How do I / Can I log this flight time?"

You skipped (A) and (B) under 61.51(e)(iv): (iv) When the pilot performs the duties of pilot in command while under the supervision of a qualified pilot in command provided - (A) The pilot performing the duties of pilot in command holds a commercial or airline transport pilot certificate and...

    Landing fees, KMKE

Beware runway/taxiway closures and potentially convoluted taxi instructions (due to the closures). Any reason to not just do a touch and go or stop and go there?

    Landing fees, KMKE

No landing fees are currently being charged at KMKE for singles (can't speak for any other types). There are ramp and facility fees charged by the FBO, though most/all of the expense can be waived with a minimum fuel purchase or the state passport thing. Source: I regularly land there.

Watch this before you fly the Fisk Approach into OSH

If you can safely fly 90 kts, you should. If you can't they have the 2300' MSL/135 kts version available.

    FF track log question

I don't know of a way to overlay it on the FF map inside of the app (but I'd love the option). You can export it to view on Foreflight.com or Google Earth (if you have it installed). Those are the two options I use most often. But I'll be anxiously awaiting someone to correct me about being...

Flying the right seat (do I need a CFI)

You get used to the parallax. Early on, you'll probably lean over (or want to) but after some practice and locking in the picture of what "centered" looks like you'll just fly like you do from the left seat... just with slightly different visual indications for the same attitude.
