    HOPS Party Needs a Sponsor

I've never been to the HOPS party (only been to Airventure once... shame on me), but if Mary and Jay are still willing (and going to Airventure), can we just contribute funds to keep the HOPS party going? I won't make it to Airventure this year, but maybe in 2022 and would love to partake in...

    Ever have those frustrating days?

I still have less than ideal landings from time to time. Lots of variables to contend with since we're now operating a in a 3-D environment. Updrafts, down-drafts, gusts... all of that comes into play. The main thing is to be able to land safely and competently (and confidently). I more...

    FLABOB and Aztec pattern

All the flying around the various patches and I've not made it to FLABOB either. If folks are going, let me know and I'll join! I'm in a light sport, but i'll make sure to float down the runway to fit-in. :p Hemet-Ryan's Hangar One cafe is delightful, but flying in, I've had to go around...

    I bought a famous airplane

Don't go through the plane with a black light if you don't want to know what's there...:p

    Rant-People on vacation

I live in a tourist trap too and couldn't agree with you guys more. It was nice while it lasted.

Near ready to pull the trigger on a Flight Design CTLS. Thoughts?

A good autopilot is a HUGE reduction in workload, especially when trying to navigate or taking direction from ATC. I find that in turbulent air, my autopilot does a fine job holding altitude and heading. Plus if you have ADS-B in and out, that's really helpful too (though it doesn't eliminate...

    [Mini-RANT]NVME SSD screws[Mini-Rant]

Gives you an excuse to order from McMaster Carr and stock up! But yes, annoying that you don't get extra screws when buying NVME SSD, but like other bare drives, they don't come with hardware either.

    LSA training

Sport Pilot training hours is all applicable toward a Private Pilot ticket, so it's not time wasted. You can always pursue the private pilot certificate later.

    Thinking About a DeLorean

Well, he can now drive faster than 88 mph and not worry about Mr. Fusion. :p This company is just around the corner from my home and we've stopped in a couple times to look at the Deloreans. My son loves 80's vehicles also (gets it from me), though his first car will be a Porsche 944 he...

[N/A] A question only (the real) Sac can address

How can that be? Shakes are like Jello Shots... you drink them "right now." :p Or if you really want to keep them, I guess the packaging will have to be up to you. I guess you could always provide an insulated mug, or keep a 12v fridge/freezer on the front seat...

    Big people and LSA

Earlier Sportcruisers (CZAW built from 2006 - 2009) were lighter and arguably quicker than the 2010+ CSA built Sportcruisers. The interior room is the same in all year models. (Bristel has a bit more interior room, and they make wonderful aircraft... just a lot more spendy.) Earlier...

    Trade for CH 601 XL-B??

I believe the Zenith 601 was the precursor to the Sportcruiser. Any interest in the Sportcruisers as they are quite nice aircraft in my biased opinion (as an owner.) I found that my mission really was hauling myself to breakfast and maybe (maybe) offering to take someone up once in a while...

Bought my first airplane. Evektor Sportstar

Congratulations on the Evektor! Beautiful bird! And the seller sounded like a great guy to let you camp at his house to transition and burn off the 5 hour minimum. (Most insurance seems to want the 5 hour transition training.) Sorry to read about the trim indicator and the transponder -...

Thinking of downsizing to a fun 2 seater

Wife already said she would not fly with me, and son is not flying with me either, so I'm solo. That drove my decision to buy a Sportcruiser (which I love.) The Bushcat is a great value and while not fast, is pretty versatile.

    Anybody reload/handload?

If stored properly, it should still work. There's some vintage milsurp ammo (some approaching 65-70 years old) that function fine.

    Anybody reload/handload?

Rapid fire can be fun, but very hard to control. And if you have to carry that ammo any distance, I can guess that most will take a limited quantity and be precise with it. One of my all time favorite movies is Tombstone, and I really enjoy the single action revolvers. Mine is in .44 Magnum...
