    Side Window Installation Sealant

Aircraft window frames are riveted with driven rivets. No adjustments. Silicone is a great sealant and easy to amend after completion.

    Side Window Installation Sealant

Tighten the frame? You haven’t installed airplane windows, right?

    Side Window Installation Sealant

Dow 732 silicone. Clear. If you trowel an edge it’ll attract dirt and discolor. Minimize it.

    Alternator info?

My Cessna had an AutoLite, until I pitched it and installed a B&C. My Cub has the accessory case-mounted B&C alternator. Both have been perfect. I’d recommend spending the money on a B&C.

House Rep husband dies in Alaska crash

Mary is our lone US Congressperson. She’s got several children. Most Alaskans love her without political motivation. This accident will be discussed by people that otherwise don’t care about aviation. That this public figure lost her husband is shocking.

    Need small air compressor.

O’Reilley’s. 12vdc tire pump. I bought one in TX because I expected my car tire in AK to be low when I arrived at 3:00 AM. That little pump has been my go-to for tires ever since. Way cheaper than a cheap compressor and so simple to use.

    Need small air compressor.

Unless you add an air dryer to your air lines? You’ll always have water regardless of compressor or tank size. I have a Rollair compressor and nitrogen bottle with regulator and Schrader valve filler in the hangar, but use a 12 volt inflator for tires. The nitrogen is for the gas shocks on my...

    GPS question

I have a G3X Touch and use an iPad Mini directly above it to run Garmin Pilot. The G3X has some functions not available on iPad but the functions that both do? No difference. Don’t underestimate the iPad.

iPad mini 6 - any case or bumpers that will fit in the Ram EZroller?

Velcro works great on a Cessna yoke. I made a wedge to tilt my screen. I don’t do the yoke mount anymore, though. On the panel it stays plugged in and out of the way. My Minis are held by velcro in both planes.

    Side load and drift.

The plan is to have ailerons into the wind and be ready to apply rudder for going around. This whole ailerons to turn on the ground topic is comical. At rollout speeds in a crossing wind the goal is to prevent the plane from inadvertent flight. Retract flaps, hold aileron into the wind, etc is...

Whatever happened to flying the approach high enough to make the runway when (not if) the engine quits?

    Side load and drift.

The OP says he’s transitioning into a taildragger. In a year or so I hope he reviews this thread. My Cub is a highly modified STOL airplane. Longer wings, deeper chord, long flaps, extended gear, and 35” tires. Maximum static AOA by design. Not an easy plane to handle in crossing and gusty...

    Side load and drift.

Reversal of what controls? A crosswind drift is coming from the side whether biased toward nose or tail.

    Side load and drift.

Cessnas and Cubs have rudder assist, too. Not a problem for anyone of average size and strength.

    Light aircraft cabin noise levels

The noise meter I own is a tool, not a toy. It has A and C weighting and my results reported were in A mode. FWIW.
