Sunset dinner balloon rides , Phoenix / DVT

Well I’m always up for a good laugh but I only sort of get it. But I appreciate the effort. It was Rainbow Ryders, they no longer offer the dinner afterward, only champagne toasts.

Sunset dinner balloon rides , Phoenix / DVT

Several years ago went on a sunset and dinner cruise. Company was based at DVT, but drove you about 30 miles west of there to launch. Does anyone know the name of that company? Or one like it? I could have sworn it was Float, but after much googling not having any luck or finding dead website...

"Don't tell my wife" -- Piper aircraft promotional film

58 Willy !?? Guess the phonetic alphabet hadn’t been invented yet. And 600miles in 4hrs in exactly what Cherokee of that vintage?

    Torn retina anyone?

My best bud had one detach (partially maybe) and I believe he’s had 3-4 surgeries as well, he’s still not 100%, it all started with cataract surgery.

Are they advertising a Cirrus 'chute demo?

Or a way to try and justify that the airplane LLC really is trying to make money, “it’s not just a hobby, I swear. See? I even ran a free ad on Craigslist”

    Towbar Prop Strike

I always do “the Big Picture” before getting in the plane - looking for things just like tow bars, chocks, big dents you didn’t notice while looking up close, etc. Bummer, but that’s what insurance is for.

    Old F-15 record flights

. . . .to 15k meters, “This is 10seconds faster than the Saturn V Apollo rockets” Unbelievable.

Loss of a great FBO - Redbird Skyport, KHYI

Bummer, nice place. I was there a few weeks ago, had the crew car and filled it up before returning it and filled up the tanks on the plane. Support your local sheriff. It did seem a bit of a gripe against cheap pilots, and I think justifiably so. To expect lots of fringe benefits for free is...

    Fatal Crash near Henderson, NV

Four on board, fifth was Good Samaritan on the ground helping them and was hurt. But your point is still valid.

    Water in Tank Emergency/Question

I questioned it as well, I suppose it was simply a sign the engine wasn’t making power and rpms dropped, wasn’t paying too much attention to the tach at that point.

    Water in Tank Emergency/Question

James, just now seeing this, your experience is an almost exact replication of one I had back in October, also an Archer (III). Plane sat with full tanks in rainy weather for two days up at Addison. I sumped just before sunrise, both tanks, checked for color and smell, looked in both tanks, caps...

Cessna 172 not down in NH today

In keeping with aviation reporting protocol, we need to know how many other uneventful flights have occurred at that airport in the past 5yrs (maybe more if the result is a low number).

    Icon death watch

There’s a design benefit to the Icon - you can gear up and not have a prop strike - brilliant!

Icon A5.. another crash Jul 27

Martin Renschler said: ↑ What I am referring to is inertia (V=M*A). If you fly a square pattern and crab on your cross wind you have no velocity in the direction of the wind. If you then turn downwind, you need to accelerate the plane in the direction of the wind. Until your plane has reached...

Runs out of gas, family sues ATC

And a reminder that in an emergency, ATC, as well meaning as they may be, often knows diddly about flying or operating an aircraft, especially in a real emergency. Being PIC has both responsibilities and consequences.

Anyone ever washed your key fob?

Phew, this is NOT what I was expecting. Glad I read through before posting . . .that could have been embarrassing.

    Flight Bridge?

Flight Bridge sounds interesting but as far as Enterprise, skip the website, call their FBO Group, 877-421-3722, excellent service. You’ll need to set up an Emerald account with National so they have a credit card on file. Excellent service and rates.

How much plane can I afford?

Ask this of a lender. When you get your answer, then you can analyze the planes you can afford as to whether they fit your typical mission 80% of the time.
